Xcal 2 help?
Xcal 2 help?
OK i just got an Xcal 2 by sct for my 05 f150 5.4 tritan 4x4 fx4. i have dual exhaust, cold air (airraid) and airraid Tb spacer. not much on the mods.
Not that the mods are important, lol ....heres my question. Ive been hearing that the Xcal2 has 3 different tunes you can use....what are they? are they where they say octane level? 87,91, or 93? Are those the tunes? so its saying the tune is for that octane level? or what? Only thing ive noticed ican do so far is change shift firmness, shift points, normal or fuel economy tune, and towing tune. That is of any use to myself, im not a tuner, so i dont wanna messwiththe WOT A/F, or spark/RPMS......
Also i wanna try to get my speedo back to where its supose to be.... I wentfrom 275/65/18's (stock) to 325/60/18's..... tire calc. says its like 3.8% difference? when speedo reads 60, im actually goin like 62.8 MPh...... so how many revs/mile do i change it to? Thanks - Roger

alright, first, lets try to use proper english to communicate- it makes this alot easier... there are a couple differetn ways you can get an Xcal2- one is straight thru superchips with 'canned' tunes ie: preprogrammed general tunes that can be applied to your truck- Then there are custom tunes by people like Troyer Performance- these are tunes designed specifically to your truck's conditions and are generally a 87 octane tune, 87 tow, and a 91 or 93 octane performance tune--obviously there are alot of variations on this- you could have a mileage tune or a 93 tow etc...its up to you and whoever does your custom tuning... i dont know what your tuner has on it so i can't help you there until you give us some more information.. but as for your speedo, you need to adjust your Tire Revs per mile. you need to find out the Revolutions per mile for your 325/60R18's (its probably around 630- but go to your tire manufacturer's web site, find out for yourself) when you load the tune, you will be asked if you want to enter the optional parameters and edit that information- there you can change the tire revs/mile to the correct number, save the changes, load the tune and you're good to go... anything else?
from Discount Tire's website....
with the new tires you have (the 325/60/18's), you are running approximately 623.69 revs per mile. So change it to that.
Other than that.....your tunes should be under the menu heading "Select Program" or something to that effect. And the names of the programs is strictly dependant on who did your tunes for you or if this is the XCal2 with the canned tunes....it may say something like tow tune, fuel economy tune, etc etc.

Most of the Xcal info you find here will be Troyer related. I know very few who purchased the Xcal elsewhere.
Where did you get yours from?
It would help trying to figure out your questions.

If it’s an XCal2 it has custom tunes. The SF Strategy Flash Device has up to 4 pre-loaded tunes
Keep in mind some custom tunes are more in-depth than others and get much better results

Well I have a different look on this.First you owe us all an apoligy for your rudeness.Secondly you need to inform us where you recieved the xcal2 from, is it new or used. Then after you get the help you need ,you then say THANK YOU to the members that helped you.
As far as the other members,I would not help him till an apoligy came first!

Thanks for helping my ignorance once again.
Sure, Mike can make to a set of custom tunes for a used XCal2..
But, and theres always a "but" when it comes to used electronics...
Call Troyers and see what its going to cost for tunes, add the price of used XCal2 and keep in mind "no warranty on XCal2 programmer"
it may only cost a little more of a new XCal2 with a warranty...
you have to weight it out....

I got my xcal2 from my ford dealer, they have a performance shop, that they are closing, and igot everything at cost pretty much. I boughti tfor my 07 mustang, but its ECM isnt supported, so instead of returning it, i used it on my truck. There are no custom tunes loaded to it, nor did i know there could be. its a stock tuner unit brand new in box from SCT.
And as far as appology i guess ill appologize, but that was an ignorant responce to me, so i replied to such a responce. replying "the search button is ur friend" is an assholish responce that noone needs to hear/see/read.
