Question 2001 non-HPI 4.6L rev limit?

I noticed that with the Xcal2 performance tune, I seem to be hitting 6,000 RPM burning off these old ProComp AT 33's. I just went in to change my tire ratio for the new ProComp XAT's and noticed it's putting in 6,000 RPM for the rev limit in both drive and neutral when you hit "SEL" to view the setting. Is this just because it defaults to the top of the menu or is this the saved value for the rev limit field? It is a 5-speed so the torque converter is not an issue, but is this normal for the perforance tune? I thought Mike T. used 5,800 RPM...??? Thanks!!!

Hi Jackal;

I'll go out on a limb here, but I'm guessing that without a TQ to worry about ballooning, and with the shorter stroke of the 4.6, you can safely go higher to maximize output. Does that make any sense?

Cheers

...it does, I just wondered. I had assumed it was still set @ 5,800 though. No big deal...she sounds WIKID at 6K.
