Thumbs up Got My Edge On Fri 8-18

Hey guys. .. I know that everyone and their dog has started a new thread when they get their tuner of any brand . . .. and I guess i am too.

Installed w/ no problems besides had to go online and update when the place I bought it from told me they had already done so. . . but no big deal.

I really didn't know what to expect, you read through all of the posts in here and most say it's a good improvement and others have problems so they're disappointed etc. . .

Well, I usually run 89oct in my truck so i ran level 2 and WOW!!! throttle response was amazing compared to stock, even right away. and the shifting was much better. i couldn't keep my foot out of it. had a crazy weekend of driving too. Wife and I left NW IA 7am sat morning to go to Des Moines for a Softball tournament and then up to Minneapolis for an extended Vacation. . . When I filled up in MN I used 91 oct so i could run level 3 and let's just say i was even more impressed with that.

Also instead of mounting the edge in the pod on my dash I drilled a hole in the ash tray and routed the wire up and snapped the pod right in.

GREAT PRODUCT!!

Off topic but.....Slick looking mini. It wouldn't happen to be supercharged would it?

Did you have to make any mods to the ashtray besides drilling a hole for the wire to go through? Does the Edge fit tight?

FX4. . .

No other mods were needed to be done to mount the POD into the ashtray. . all i did was drill the hole big enough to fie the connector through
(the end that connects to the pod. . .not the big end!!) and then used a length of trimmer string. . (use what you want. . I just happened to have some on my work bench) and fed it through the hole into the dash counsel.. . I did find that there is NO room to get your hand into that area from below the dash so used a hangar and bent a small hook in one end to feed up into the dash to fish the trimmer string out.. . . tied a knot around the POD end of the cable and puled it up and through!!
Then all you need to do is connect it and push the POD into place. . and it does fit nice and snug. Haven't had it pop out at all and don't think it will (but does come out nicely if you need to remove)

Thanks

CHIA
Thanks on the MINI comment!! That car is a lot of fun!! But, no it isn't superchaged. Wish it was but oh well. . it was FREE!! HAHA

My wife auctually WON the car off of a DR PEPPER cap!! I know i know not believable but she did.

Slick car though with the drop top!! Lots of fun!!

Thanks

Great, thanks for the detailed explanation on the install, seems a great way to go, and leave the POD really low profile, so thieves don't get excited.

One last questions.....how is the viewing angle with that tuner in the ashtray? Can you read it ok while driving? I know sometimes those LCD displays can be less visible when not seen/viewed directly.

CHIA,

Good Question!! Guess I never thought of mentioning that. .

Well, I'm 6'6" tall and have the seat all the way back. .. .I can view it perfectly. . . the nice thing about the ashtray mount is you can auctually adjust the POD to a different angle if you needed (don't see the need) but it's perfectly visible.

Thanks

Did my first 0-60mph yesterday on the 91 performance and puled a
8.87 sec.

Didn't think that was too shabby for a full size supercrew!!!

Have yet to do the quarter mile.. . . . prob get a ticket!!!

Great idea on the ashtray! Every time someone new gets in the truck they see the pod first thing and want to know the whole story. Sometimes it is nice to be the only one that knows it is there.

Probably an odd question, but how has it affected you mpg? I assume worse at first because of wanting to "play" with the throttle, hehe

Just curious. Thanks!!
