TP 93 Tow MPG ?

Ok, just ordered my 3 tunes from TP after all the research I did on the forum, that and the fact that jpdadeo responds to 99% of the tuner questions...so I am looking for a answer to the Mil$$$ question.

I tow a 27Ft Travel Trailer, dry weight of 5050#'s and loaded around 6200 lbs. With the stock setup I can get around 6.6 mpg (better with a tail wind). What should I reasonably expect to get with a TP 93 Tow Tune....along with an AF1 3" intake?

Anyone have thoughts on this?

Thanks folks...cannot wait for my tunes....i have bought into the hype for sure!!

I tow a 25' pontoon that weights close to 6000lb's with trailer and I went from 9mpg up to 11.5 mpg of course if I were to keep it around 55-60 that figure would go up, but it is so funny to see people stack up in the lane next to me thinking I will be slow then I blow them away at the light you will be happy with the towing results.

Opps, didn't see this response so I am sorry I am late to my own party.

Um question for you sir. 6K#'s and you get 11.5? I have to ask, what speed is that and what tune did you use for that?

I ordered the 87 performance, 87 tow and 93 tow.

Thanks

JP

jpdadeo, thanks for your response too and the others. I cannot even tell you how ready i am get these tunes.

Would it be fair to suggest that if by adding 40+ HP to the wheels that would be close to the power of a F250 PSD?

Is that reality?

Truck comes with 87 tow stock. I'd change to 93 perf instead of 87 tow. But it isn't my truck, so I'll keep my opinion to myself.

I thought I had seen that before, and will see if they allow me to make another change at Troyer, I am sure they are sick of me by now with all my questions to Neil and staff.

My big question to Mike would be, could I buy extra tunes and keep them on my computer, and simply load them on the excal as needed....wonder if they would do that later down the road. I think it would be fun to have a different tune now and then.

As a back up plan, i may get a 91 tow just incase I cannot find 93 gas in west texas or in OK or Ark.

If anyone knows how to check on octane levels in other areas that would be cool to know.

Thanks for your note Stealth...

No prob. I recall seeing that 87 tow thing on here before. Only seems logical to me, so does the 91 tow you're thinking of switching to.

Orginally I had ordered, 87 performance, 87 tow and 91 tow, but then I changed it to

87 peformance, 87 tow and 93 tow.

Should I do something else?

But 91 tow would work since you may not be able to get 93 octane out of town.

I am running the 93 tow tune and I will humm a long at 70mph give or take 5 mph. Unfortunetly here in central texas were the lakes are it really isnt flat so I am in 3rd gear at around 2500-2800 rpm's and the truck wont stay in overdrive(constantly down shifts). my mpg's would go up if I could stay in overdrive and under 2000 rpm's. I have 87 tow, 93 tow and 93 performance. Once I went with the 93 octane the truck has not seen 87 tow tune, I have to much fun with it. I need too get a 93 race tune next.

TP's 87 tow tune blows the stock tune out of the water. I chose the 87 tow due to the different shifting over stock and if I were to ever have to penny pinch and run the cheap gas. Also the stock tune will cause a CEL with the 3 1/4 AF1 intake I have so there is that to look at also.

Thanks for the response Huitt24, you said West Texas, I am in Keller and have a hunting lease out in Eastland...there is a hill there nicknamed, Ranger Hill, do you know it? Have you ever pulled up it before? If so, do you recall the results? I am worried about getting up that thing.

What do you think of my tune reqeust? 87 peformance, 87 tow and 93 tow?

JP
