which tuner

all i have done to my 5.4 right now is a 3" cat back and drop in k&n. so i was looking at the troyer website and i'm trying to figure out which tuner to get. i want to possibly supercharge or a head/cam swap in the future, so i was wondering which tuner would be good to get right now, and then be able to send that tuner in and get it custom tuned after my other upgrades. thanks

The XCal2 will be the most versatile. It can be programmed and reprogrammed for just about any Ford

XCal2 is your only option, it can be reprogrammed for ANY mod you do...including a supercharger.....

I highly recommend XCal2 period.... from stock to blower.... and anything inbetween...

ok so the xcal2 thats $499, does that come with custom troyer tunes? cause i've seem them on ebay for 380. also if i bought the xcal2 without custom tunes, would i have to program it myself(adjust timing and fuel curve) to make any gains, or can i just plug it in anwser a few simple questions like a hypertech or something and i'm done? i think its really cool that i can tune so much myself but i don't know jack about tuning, so can i screw things up???

stretch104 the XCal2 is a blank piece of hardware that must be programmed. With that in mind, it’s very important to choose wisely who will build your custom tunes *I personally recomend Mike

TP’s XCal2 comes with three custom tunes of your choice done specifically for your needs and you get a nice discount for being an F150online member. Give Mike a call you’ll be glad you did

Unfortunately, it's against the rules to post that type of information on the boards....

I will second the earlier motions by JP and truck'n... Troyer is *THE* way to go.

There are lots of options out there... lots of folks selling what they think is best... that's fine, it creates a good market that drives the technology but, when it all shakes out and the dust settles, Troyer remains atop the F-series platform's custom tuning pedastool. He truly is an impressive custom tuner and, even better, he's an overall good guy that will jump through hoops to ensure that you're happy.

Troyer is simply *THE ONLY TUNER* that I will allow to touch my truck... You definitely owe it to yourself to give TP a call and discuss your options, your discount (as a f150online.com member), and the performance increases that you're gunning for... You'll be glad you did -- I am!!

I think based on the improvements that you have plan TP xcal2 is the way to go. Alot of the othere tuners want give you the adjustability for your mods. I just would like to see numbers after your done.
