XCal2 and Edge Question

This is not one of those which is best. I have an Edge and just finished installing a Troyer tuned XCal2 and AF1. Installation of the AF1 went easier than I thought it would. No check engine light came on.

My question is:

Has anyone installed XCal2 tunes and used the Edge set to stock (0) to monitor the various engine parameters such as ECT or trans temperature? I am leary to plug my Edge in unless I get word from someone who has ran XCal2 tunes with the Edge. If not I guess it is Ebay time for the Edge. I have a 2006 F-150 5.4L.

Thanks,

Tom

Your best bet would be to call troyer and ask them, I'm sure they can answer all your questions, and be more than happy to do so with their great customer service

I did call Troyer. They said they did not know. I might try Edge but was hoping someone had already tried it.

Don't get edge from ebay. They're cheaper from discountpowerparts.com.

He means sell the Edge on Ebay. I wouldnt think it would hurt anything unless you try to insall the Edge tunes. I would say try it; i dont think it would hurt.

I did it to my truck with no problems. We did some 0-60 times with the xcal vs the edge. You can use the edge to monitor your truck with out loading tunes.

I think someone has some incorrect info - yes, you *can* plug the Edge unit in just to use it for it's gauges & other functions along with our tuning - the only thing you cannot do is to try to use their tuning AND ours, that of course will not work.

We have quite a few owners who bought the Edge unit & them came to us for our custom tuning who are using the Edge for it's other functions too.

Works fine. I loaded your tunes then plugged the Evolution back in. Works like a champ. Oh yea your tunes are awsome.

Question

I called Troyer Perf 2 weeks ago about this very subject. Not sure who helped me, but he absolutely advised against having both products on the truck. I wanted to use the Edge for the "gauges" only and continue with my Xcal for tunes (which I have been pleased with for over a year now). I tow a trailer and wanted the simplicity of monitoring 4 parameters. He went so far as to suggest the Scan gauge instead.
I think I will have to give another call and ask to speak to Mike about this confusion.
Glad I spotted this thread cuz I thought the solution to having actual working gauges was out of the question!
Thanks to all! Things are lookin' up!

Mike already chimed in (post 8) and said you can use the Edge gauges in combination with the XCal2. You just can’t stack the tunes
