I downloaded the lightning software and everything. When i click on the little edge icon a white box appears with nothing in it but a couple of headers. Does this sound right? When I click on them the only one i can click is updates and data stream. I have not hooked it up to my truck yet. Does it only connect when updates are available? My date on the side says 5/23/06. Thanks

wish I could help. I have not updated mine. The last time I hooked it up to the computer it said no update needed. I say try it on the truck and go with it.

 

What kind of screen did yours show? Was it just a white box and you click on the updates tab? I want to make sure I loaded everything right

 

I think thats what I got. Its been many months ago that I did it. I number of 16 hr shifts between now and then. But I think thats right.

Whew was kinda worried. Thanks. My truck is still in shop for oil leak. Bastards tried to tell me they couldnt find the leak. I drove 5 miles and look underneath and found the leak. It's either the oil pan gasket or rear main seal. They keep saying we dont know where the leak is but it's not the rear main. They are chaning oil pan gasket tomorrow. I guess that's a 3 day job. SOunds like that should take about 35 minutes.

The only other question is why did it never tell me to hook the Edge up to the CPU. I downloaded everything. So all i did is download the software to the CPU but nothing to the actual edge. How do I go about doing that? My CPU doesnt even recognize the new hardware when I hook it up to the USB port. Thanks

 

Plug in EDGE unit to CPU.

Click on Lighning icon.

It should read the unit as being connected.

Click on updates.

 

Nope didnt happen that way. I plugged it in and nothing. Clicked on the edge icon and does not say connected. When I go to add new hardware it says that the Edge webstar cable modem has not been installed. Tried to intsall and nothing. All says the lightning harware drivers have not been installed. I followed the directions START ALL PROGRAMS EDGE PRODUCTS AND INSTALL But nowhere does it say intsall drivers.
