Load the tune of your choice, unplug the XCal2, and put it away, done. You can also leave the XCal2 plugged in and hook it to a laptop. SCT has some nice software you can download from their sight for free

Hi Jerrett,
Welcome to F-150 Online!
Our tuner is plugged in only when you actually need to use it - for loading tunes, or for example if you wanted to do datalogging, or diagnostics, etc. At any other time, you would simply disconnect it.
Now as for storage, a lot of people leave them in their vehicles, but there is one thing to remember - I don't like leaving it in a 140 degree vehicle in summer, and I don't like leaving it in a zero-degree vehicle in winter, as like any electronic & most other parts, there are some absolute storage & usage temperature limitations - they are very wide & flexible of course, I just wouldn't go to those extremes is all.
Please feel free to give us a call to go over any of this in more detail, we'll be happy to help!
