New SCT Stragety Flash tuner question... Troyer

Hi all, again. Was reviewing the SCT website and thought maybe custom tunes could be downloaded onto the new SF tuner. Is this true? Could I purchase a new SF tuner and then purchase the tunes only from a custom tuner? HMmmmm ... Troyer? Also, this tuner claims data logging? Would this take the place of the trip to the dyno? I emailed SCT customer service with similar questions. I will post their response. THANKS!

Hi.

Not the approach I'd take.

1. You'd need to first convert the 9415 (SF) to a 9400 (X2) via the utility on the SCT site - a ONE-WAY operation. A 9415 won't accept custom tunes, other than the 'canned' ones generated by SCT specifically for the SF.

2. You'd then need to pay reputable tuner to provide 1 to 3 custom tunes to load onto the newly converted ( and now empty) unit.

If there are custom tunes in your future, better to just go with the 9400 with the custom tunes of your choice included in the deal. It would be simpler and probably less expensive.

As for the datalogging - both can use LiveLink to datalog, either on-device or via a laptop (preferred). You still need to capture A/F's as well for a complete record of what's going on - either by a trip to a dyno, or a wideband O2 unit.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Grog

zx200driver you should look into the Troyer Performance group buy that might be kicking off soon. You’ll get a good deal and you’ll end up with three custom tunes done specifically for your truck

Hi zx,

Yes, we can do that for you - however, i would go that route ONLY if you ALREADY owned the 9415 - I would NOT go buy a new 9415, and then have to pay us to make new custom tunes for you - you will pay FAR less by simply ordering the 9400 from us, and thus get the free custom tuning we provide with that (3 custom tunes!), as well as all the other functionality like the high-speed datalogging, end user adjustability to many aspects of the tuning, etc.

It would probably be best for you to give us a call so we can go over these details with you, so that you have a thorough understanding of all of this, and so that we also understand exactly where you are in this process and can thus properly advise you, etc. - and then you can make your decision from a fully informed position.

We can provide you with either the 9400 with proper custom tuning, which is what will get you the best power & performance gains - or we can also provide you with the 9415, which could LATER be converted into a 9400 and have us do custom tunes for you at a later date, for an additional charge - but I would advise simply calling us to have us set you up with the 9400 (XCalibrator 2 loaded with 3 of our custom tunes set up for however you like), as that is what would cost you the least and get you the best results.
