unknown program in truck

if you buy a truck with a program in it but dont know whoes it is can you still use a ex2 and over write it ,if not what do you do to get a differant program in it.its a 1997 diesel.

You could always take it to the dealer and have it reflashed back to the normal program

with a custom tuned Xcal2 you can overwrite any file on the ford pcm, since that is the only way to use a Xcal2 on a 97 diesel, you will be fine.

friend of mine bought the truck and the dealership said he would have to buy another computer.kinda thought that was bs.

Hi Gil,

Yes, with the XCalibrator 2 you can flash over top of whatever is inside the PCM, that is not a problem.

The XCalibrator 2 does not have the same limitations that many other similar products have in this regard, so that will not be a problem.
