Hoping someone can help - I'll call Edge on Monday, but I was really hoping to get this going this weekend.

My Edge Evolution arrived Friday, so I went out to program my '03 Expedition 5.4L this morning. After it reads the PCM, it doesn't store the stock program - it just displays a message saying "UPDATE REQUIRED" and to call Edge. The version number of the Edge is E2a.33.4

Am I out of luck, or does anyone know a workaround? Thanks!

Does it say it works with the Expedition? I didn't know it did. Some people were seeing that error when it first came out and it meant that the Edge was unable to program the HEX code they had and had to send it (their HEX) to Edge so they could make it work with that HEX. If they haven't done Expys yet, that could be why you're getting that message either way, you'll probably have to wait for Edge.

 

Yeah, sounds like I'll have wait until next week. They do work with "F-Series and Expeditions" now, sounds like I might have an oddball hex number though.

 

Shi'ite - I can't read the PCM code and there's no sticker on the thing, although it must have gotten flashed with a different load by the dealer at some point anyway, since the Edge won't work with it.

Any recommendations on a replacement? The place I bought it carries Superchips, Hypertech & Diablo.

The Edge should give you the HEX when you first turn the truck on. What did Edge say when you called?

 

It's a new one on them - it downloads my PCM but it never stores it, just goes straight to "Update Required". When I turn it back on it only shows the Edge's version # - there's no Hex code displayed. If I could get the Hex, they could figure it out - without that though, there's not much they can do.
