I have a '92 F-150 5.0L, it did not come with factory A/C, I added an aftermarket A/C unit which works great! I connected the proper wiring to the PCM so it can control the idle speed when the compressor kicks on but it does not make a difference. In fact I had to mess with the idle screw on the throttle body so the engine doesn't die when in gear. Does anyone know if I have to reprogram the PCM?
If I do need to reprogram the PCM is there software I can load on my laptop so that I can monitor and make other adjustments as I want to rebuild the engine with a slightly different cam.

Actually, we can handle this for you, fox 252 - the PCM will allow us to simply kick up the idle speed only when the A/C is on, as you do not get a different PCM just form not having A/C fro the factory in most cases.
That will save you money as well as from having to try to learn how to tune on your own, which is not anywhere near as easy as some people think, especially in FoMoCo vehicles. Contrary to popular opinion, it's not just point, click & tune.
Last - never adjust idle speed by turning the throttle body screw, that only throws the whole system out of whack trying to band aid a solution - though of course I can understand why you did it!
For example, with aftermarket throttle bodies in most cases this causes a need to send the throttle body back in and have it recalibrated - if you are lucky, you can simply return it to it's original position on a stock unit.
