Help!! Vibrations while in Towing Mode with Edge Evo

Hi All, Newbie Here !!

I posted this originally in Towing but no-one is responding thought I might get more luck here as I think it is to do with the Programmer, my DH thinks it might be to do with the Tranny.

I really need some help as my Edge Evolution is acting really weird.

This is my setup:- F150 5.4L 3.73 Screw w/Borla Cat Back Exhaust, Airaid Cold Air Intake, Troyer Performance Dual E/Fans and the the Edge. I had the edge in Towing mode before the e/fans went in but after I had the exhaust and airaid in and everything was fine or so I thought. Then I had the Dual E/Fans installed and went on a long round trip to Montana (approx 1600 miles there & back, not towing), about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way into the trip I started hearing a high pitched noise and vibrations under my feet at certain MPH (approx 65mph) and RPM's (can't remember exact #'s) the noise and vibrations drove me so nuts that I put the truck back to stock for my trip home and then nothing + better MPG and a strong headwind heading up the Columbia Gorge towards the Oregon Coast.

I run the truck in stock all the time now 'cos of this but this weekend I towed our 6000lb trailer to Central Oregon over Santiam Pass. I put the Edge back in Towing Mode and everything sounded okay to a certain degree, I didn't hear much, but DH was driving and said he felt the vibration a little but not much. I towed back and only felt the vibrations & noise at around 45 MPH and 1200 approx RPM's. (BTW In Stock mode none of this happens, no vibrations, no noise, In transmission only mode it happens a little but not as much as in Towing mode)

I'm tempted to give up the edge and maybe just go to 4.10 gears. I have 20" Wheels with 33" Toyo Open Country AT tires. I don't off road much, maybe onto a beach now & then but I really want the truck to not be feeling it up hills while towing. On the way home I maintained 55MPH easily up the hills sometimes getting up to 60-65mph. I have the power on the flat but going up hill to keep from dropping speed I am hitting almost 4000 rpm's- is this ok for the truck?

Any suggestions about the egde- why it's acting out and whether to swap out the gears, is it worth it? Is there anything else I should do?

Ta for your help................BritGirl

Contact the vender you bought it from. Maybe he can give you some insite.

Or you can sell it and buy an Xcal2 with custom programming from Mike T.

Welcome to the boards

I am by no means any kind of expert. I do know that in the maneul it say that the Edge evo may uncover an exsiting problem that other wise would go unnotice. Saying this I my self have not towed my trailer yet since I installed my edge evo. I currently runnin level 3 and have not run into any problems.

Have you tried backing down the shifting pressure in the custom settings to see if that makes a difference. I don't know what the changes in pressure are from stock, but I'm sure its higher. I would call edge and see what they have to say.

I would contact Edge directly, ask for Bill, he is the one that wrote the programs. There has been several others with similar noises and vibrations (not all with the Edge) and the common link that I see is the aftermarket intake. I only have a Magnaflow catback and the stock intake and I have not experienced any weird noises or vibrations. Talk to the guys at Edge and keep us posted as I am sure many of us are interested in the outcome. Good luck with it.

Also, just to be sure, have you downloaded the latest updates? Some people with different Hex Codes were getting some different problems and as far as I know most have been addressed. I have a similiar set up, just put the exhaust on today, and normally run it in level 3. When I need to tow, I drop it to level 2 and turn off thee OD on the inclines as it is second nature for me to do. I haven't run into anything like this, I get a little vibe at 60 MPH normally, have since the day I bought it, but it feels like a truck, what I am used to.

If you have the latest updates then contact Edge.
