coast to coast
coast to coast
I have a 1999 F-150 supercab (4.6 auto) and I work all around the country, I usually pull a 6x12 trailer with my scooter inside.
My question is will any of these chips or other mods help with the gas mileage and or pulling
Thank you,
Wmildman

That's what I get stock average mpg. Can't wait till I get a tuner.
Hi wmildman,
Well, the first thing to remember is that proper tuning is going to add power - now when you do *that* you help with the ability to tow, and as a by-product of having more power available, you can potentially reduce the load on the motor and thus see a little bit better MPG.
What can you expect? Well, figure about 10% more HP and about 13%-15% more torque on your 4.6, just to give you a rough idea - and it'll happen at any throttle position or rpm, so even though the largest gains will be up at the power peak (obviously), you'll still see the same rough percentage gains (about 10% more horsepower) all the time.
One thing some people get caught up in is expecting a tune to make a 2.5 ton truck with a small engine suddenly feel like a rocketship, or to start getting 4-5 more MPG - that must difference probably won't happen.
Our performance tuning is the single best bang for the buck enhancement simply because nothing else for the same or less cost will improve the performance of the vehicle more, which is why our tuning is so popular.
Other things you can do to help towing power and MPG as well as things like our electric fan kit & underdrive pulleys, too - just FYI.
If you'd like to go over any of this in more detail, please feel free to give us a call at our number listed below, we'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
I hope that brief info helps a bit, & best of luck with your truck!
