Will Tuning or Headers Help?

Hello,

New member old truck. I have a 1995 F150 Supercab 4x4 302 . Last year I installed a Flowmaster 3" single Cat Back system. I could use a little more pulling power. Has anyone installed a set of shorty headers on one of these trucks? Is it worth it? I was wondering if performance programmers/tuners are still available. Most of what I have seen around is for newer trucks.

I have heard that headers benefit quite a bit, well more noticed than say a 4.6 or 5.4 lets say. In my opinion, they had crappy small manifolds so anything would be better. These engines seem to appreciate add ons like a 5.0 stang does. As far as I know, programmers are still there, talk to Troyer performance, he hooks up pretty much everyone here. There is still a large market for these trucks.

The most benifical thing is to cut the cats off because the 95 or older trucks are really restrictive. This along with the headers are very helpful to these trucks.

Hi timspop,

Yes, we still tune those "older" trucks - now it will require the use of a traditional "chip" instead of a "tuner," but that doesn't matter in terms of the results for your vehicle. We can offer you either a single program or a multiple-program type of chip for your 5.0 truck.

And yes, headers certainly will help on those 5.0's - I recommend the JBA's - we can help you with those as well, if you like.

If you'd like to go over any of this in more detail, please feel free to give us a call at our number listed below.

Thanks for dropping by & good luck with your truck!
