Pass side kick panel..pull it off...there you see fuel relay switch and up behind it is computer...[B]Carefully[B] remove it and there will be a white tag with letters and numbers on it...write it down and put it in your trucks manual....assembly is reverse

If you get the X-Cal2 from Troyer, they will send you the X-Cal2 unit and have it read what is loaded and then you get the files e-mailed to you and load the files yourself into the X-Cal2. It is very easy to do.

I would recommend ordering XCal2 from Mike and have him send you a blank tuner so you can read the hex code..... better safe than sorry.... your catch code sticker may have been removed do to PCM being updated... if thats the case, the code on the PCM is no good to you......

Hi bfnsprout,

Yes, we can send out the XCal 2 to you blank, so you can simply read your truck's strategy,a nd then email you the tunes to load into it - we do that all the time here.

Now the 2001's don't' tend to be reflashed nearly as often as say, the 1997's or the 2004 & 2005's, just FYI, so it's not quite as common with your particular model year, though it can still happen without you knowing about it.

One other way of finding a factory sticker is to just look on the back of the PCM itself - it is located just above the passenger's kick panel, and is held in place by a small black plastic clip - you can simply pull that clip straight back to remove it, and usually under the clip is another code sticker - 3 letters and 1 number - like SVB1, UEV2, etc.

So there are a couple of ways, the most sure is to have us send out the unit so you can just plug it in and do the strategy read, and then we can email the tunes to you.

So I called troyer performance yesterday and I can't remember the guy's name that I talked to. Anyway, he was really cool, and helped me alot. Troyer performance is an awesome company. They're one of the only places i've dealt with that were'nt dead set on selling me the most expensive product they have. After talking to the guy for about a half an hour or so about bikes and stuff, he actually listened to what my ideas about my vehicle were and convinced me that the xcal2 might not be the best thing for me. Long story short, I purchased the superchips max tuner. that was yesterday, and the tracking info says it will be here in the morning. I just wanted to let mike know that I was very satisfied with the store, and the people you have working there. Thanks, bfnsprout

Good deal, Troyer is a customer service company, and the customer comes first... not your wallet.....
also XCal2 isn't for everyone, depends on what you're looking for in a tuner...
Good Luck....

Hi.

If the guy talked to you non-stop for a half-hour or more, that was Mike.

Otherwise, you probably were talking to 'Dad'. (a.k.a Marc)

Either way, most companies could stand to learn true 'Customer Service' from them.

Good luck with your tuner.

Cheers
Grog

Actually, I'm guessing that was probably Neil, & he's a great guy.
