If he is missing service pack 2 then he is way out of date.

 

Technically installing Windows on two computers with the same licence key is illegal but you can download SP2 here. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en. It's the same file, but it doesn't make you verify Windows.

 

Well I will try all of those thing and I will let you know how it turns out...

 

ALright well I followed the link and downloaded the file. I went to install it and it said that it couldnt install because the cd key was used..


I then disabled my norton and turn off the firewall and went to install the Edge software and I got the same error again...

The link Tical provided was correct - Question: you did download first ( all 266 MB), then install, right? Not 'run from ..' ?

Your error is actually 1931, not 1930... and this confirms a system update (e.g. SP2 in this case) is the culprit.

Either spend the bucks for a legal copy of the OS ( preferred), or find someone with the Service Pack on a CD - sorry.

 

Alright well I just ordered a copy of windows xp pro.. so it looks like i am going to have to wait a week to use my Edge..

 

why do u have to wait. You said you loaded it on another computer allready? Just update it from there and use it

Red05stx How did your pod piece fit on the dash? How does the velcro or double sided tape work that came with the Edge? It seems as though it is very low quality but is dam convenient... I just might have to paint mine as well..

 

On a side note..........When you get your legit copy of XP you don't have to do a new install.

Google windows xp key changer for software and instructions to change to your new legit key number.

Alright well I got my new copy of Windows XP Pro and installed it and everything and I updated and i now have SP2.. So I turned off my Firewall and Norton and went to install it again and I get the same error again...

 

"What we have here, is a failure to communicate", what I mean here is that you have a file permissions problem that the file cannot be written to, your security settings on the computer/file won't allow it. Cut and paste the error in Microsofts support website and it will tell you what to do. It is no way a firewall issue or an Edge unit issue, it is with the permisions. I will let you know how my install goes when my unit arrives.
