lag @ the throttle body

Is anyone else having the lag or delayed response w/ the electronic throttle bodies? Is there a way to adjust it or tune it w/o paying $400 for a programmer? Thanks.

Basically the same question I have... I'm starting to look for something on it. I'm sure there are plenty of responses on this for the 04-06 trucks. Also the fuel economy on these. It seems like it takes forever to move these trucks. Are they running ....maybe too rich? I like the power, but my Lightning had better economy than this.
BTW..it is a 2006 Supercrew 4X4.

No, you cannot modify the throttle response with some cheap gimmick in these ETC vehicles - that must be done thru proper programming of the ETC system in the PCM.

This is a torque-predictive system that goes thru numerous calculations to come up with a throttle angle that may not correlate to the actual gas pedal position at all - not something you can just "ratchet up" or somehow alter the signal going to the electric motor on the throttle body - at least, not without either ruining it or causing a big problem, so please don't try that, I don't want to see someone have a runaway truck and/or get hurt, etc.

The bottom line is, the way to take care of the inherent lag in ETC vehicle throttle response is proper custom tuning - we can take care of that for you if you like.

Sorry guys, I understand how you feel, but that's the deal.

Had my 05 reflashed at the dealer and it took care of the problem. Had the lag very bad and it was totally eliminated. The aftermarket program will achieve the same thing, plus some other changes.

Right, but I was only referring to his question of eliminating the lag.

My experience with this: had my 05 reflashed for a rough trans 1-2 shift issue and throttle lag, it fixed the shift problem but I still had the throttle lag, though not as bad. The tuner totally corrected this.

The 06's have a slight lag, not as bad as 04 and 05 though, and again, the tuner totally eliminated it.

Thumbs up

Hey guys I just got the comp. reflashed @ the dealer and it has eliminated the lag! Of course I haven't tested the gas mileage yet, but I can't see how this could hurt it in anyway. I apprecciate the help & response ya'll gave to help fix it! Thanks!

I had mine reflashed so early (over a year ago) that I have no idea what its effect on mileage was, but I get such great mileage, I am convinved that it did not hurt it. It eliminated the lag, shifts better and runs strong enough for me. It will spin the tires and many on here says their's will not.

Hi Marc
Smokin Ozzy is still around, somewhere. There aren't very many "get togethers" that I get to. I had to get rid of the Lightning 3 years ago. Had 3 kids that just wouldn't fit if I "HAD" to go somewhere. I'll have another some day. For now, it's a Taurus and a 'Crew. I miss the Lightning like crazy!! I have made it to L'Fest the last two years though. I haven't posted on here much. I kindof faded away from this group....but always a good source of info, even at different angles. I will get ahold of Mike. I got my first chip for my 99 L from him, and then dealt with some...well...unpleasant folks in Florida trying to get my tune right. Unfortunitely, it was still a learning curve back then.
I know sometimes some places get a little bias, but are there any alternatives besides the X cal2?
Thanks
Great hearing from you Marc!!

There are a few other tuning options, but after spending all the time I have at Mikes new shop in Virginia, and witnessing all the dyno R&D'ing, I would never even think about anything but his custom tunes in an X-Cal2..
