This stuff works...

Bought the truck in Jan and found this site soon afterwards. Been looking and searching and reading (and laughing) as much as I can about what people are doing to their rigs. I just want to share my experiences and say this site has been a wealth of information for me.

Finally got my XCal2 yesterday and, as a seat of the pants observation, it does what I expected it to do. Here's a little bit of timeline...

Got in on the group buy, placed the order within a few days of the close. The rig had been flashed at the dealer and there was no new code sticker so TP sent a blank XCal2, did a read strategy and sent it back for programming.

Ordered the AF1 CAI at the same time and put that on as soon as I got it. Some difference in performance, mostly a cool noise when I whomp on it Of course the CEL came on and stayed on but was told the tuning would take care of it.

Order efans, pulleys and belt and put them on a couple of weekends ago. Efans first, drove it for a day and noticed a little difference (again this is all seat of the pants and maybe some anticipation ), mainly once the rig got rolling.

Then put the pulleys and belt on and been driving it for a couple of weeks now. Again, a little improvement; not much but I think I notice it once the rig is rolling.

Still nothing much, or at least not really noticeable, at take off. Between the CAI, efans and pulleys there is a (almost significant) difference from stock.

Then the UPS guy showed up and it all came together. Got 87 perf, 91 tow and 91 perf tunes but had just filled up the tank with regular so I installed the 87 perf tune. Yeah babe Noticeable difference at take off. No chirping but there is definately an engine under there. Much nicer shifts, much more responsive throttle, just a much nicer experience over all.

Thanks to Mike and his crew for building a business around performance engineering for these trucks. I don't have the time, money nor inclination to explore and research all the different mods available. I'll gladly defer to others for experience and guidance, and in this case I can say it definitely paid off.

And thanks to all of you for your posts, the entertainment value alone is worth visiting every day

Hi.

Another nice write-up! Thanks for that.

I concur, we are indeed benefiting from all the years of R&D and hard work over at TP.

I can't imagine what I would have ended up with (and spent) and still be disappointed, had I not also discovered this site which led me to this vendor and all the great advice performance-wise. The added bonus for me was learning how to properly maintain these vehicles - that will pay off for sure.

Grins all around !

Cheers

Hi moreheads,

Wow, thanks for a mature & insightful review of all your various mods, impressions & results - very intuitive, and something that should be a "must read" for everyone.

I'm delighted to hear you are enjoying your mods, and you're absolutely right, it's the tuning that really brings it all together - it's the single best bang for the buck, and really wakes the truck up - especially when you have all those other parts.

Thanks for a great post!

The truck came with the wheels and tires. The Lorado I got from a lead someone posted in this site, https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...=access+lorado, $340.00 out the door. Everything else was from Troyer Performance. Got the lowering shackles for $97.00, just need to put them on. Froogle is your friend for finding deals.

Sorry about the email thing, I'll fix it.
