Would it be better to have a custon tune chip done on a dyno or go with like Xcal2? I'm not useing my truck for performance other than towing my car and boat. Other than that just driving it to and from work. I'm fixen to build a engine to go in my truck so I want a custom tune what one will be better?

 

The XCal II would be the best choice for you in this situation, IMO. First, if you'd get a chip, you'd be stuck with those tunes until you send it back to get retuned which equals a lot of downtime with the shipping and whatnot. And if you're "fixin' " to rebuild your engine, it seems to me that a traditional chip is a little more restrictive on some of your options.

The XCal II on the other hand, is a hand held "tuner" with 3 different tunes in it for a variety of situations specific to you. The person who tunes your XCal II (probably Mike Troyer) if you are posting in these forums can simply e-mail new tunes to you per your specifications. Quicker, more flexible, etc. Obviously in these forums, for a *custom* tune, the majority of people go for the XCal II.

Even if you are just a daily driver like I am, you can still take great advantage of different tunes to what YOU want. For example, a towing specific tune. Or even a tune for the greatest amount of MPG. There are literally thousounds of posts on these subjects so try a "quick" search and pick somehting that fits YOU best.

I know! I tried to call today too at about 3 CST to add on the AF1 intake.

I want to make sure to order it in time for the XCal II that I have on order that I'm expecting pretty soon now.

 

Like my sig says, I have it on order.

I ordered it on the 27th of February so hopefully within this upcoming week I'll get the email.

 

Soon I will have everything I need. Yea in about 2 to 3 months

Looks like a nice truck you have there - however, I would consider taking that huge picture out of your signature and instead, put it in your gallery here so that it doesn't take forever to download and take up bandwidth - or at least downsize it a bit -0 it took the better part of 20 seconds to download with our broadband connection! (just FYI)

In terms of what would be best for it, yes, have us do our custom tuning to get the best results, as that will get you a set of 3 different custom tunes in the most advanced hand-held tuner on the market - that way you will not only have he very best tuning, but also advanced features like complete diagnostics, a fast datalogger, and so much more - and any time you change something in the future, we can easily update your tuning by simply sending you a file via email - this is a very handy feature to have, and one that a lot of our customers make use of.
