Hi, does anyone know if there is a way to use the livelink software to datalog with a laptop and view live paramaters on the laptop screen rather than do it on the xcal2 and transfer it to the laptop? In other words, can you view live data parameters, while the engine is running, on your laptop with the xcal2 plugged in to the truck and to the laptop? Its hard trying to figure out all this datalog stuff when your doing it for the first time, lol. If there is a way, please let me know. Thanks.

How? I had the truck running, the xcal2 plugged into the diagnostic port and into the laptop. I had the livelink program open with the config file open but everything read 0.00 and underneath all the gauge meters it said no signal. Is there a special program in the xcal2 I need to be under for it to send live parameters to the laptop or what? Thanks.
Yes, you can view actual real-time readouts with the live load software and a laptop. Make sure you have the two drivers loaded the live load needs and then piggyback the laptop through the XCal2. You can look at real-time data indefinitely. The Excel Worksheet program is only good to go for approximately 13 to 14 minutes but I’ve recorded data for 30 min and then just split it up so Excel would display it.
It’s not hard to use once you get started and try it a few times. Make sure you name your files clearly so you can figure out what’s what later. Look on the SCT web sight they have a flash demo tutorial that will help explain how to get everything cooking
here, I found the tutorial
using Live Link
