Talking Dragstrip results are in

Last year when when I was living in Houston, I raced my HD at the loacal track and ran a best of 14.97
That's about on the money for a stocker.
I bought an Xcal2, lower 6lb pulley, shift kit and an AF1 from Troyer but never got the chance to fit the goodies as I got transferred back to England.
To cut the story short, I eventally exported the truck to England, fitted the parts and today, went to the first RWYB of the season here.

A new best time of 13.92 @ 98.86

Ok, not a true A-B test as it was on 2 different tracks/continents with different conditions but I am very pleased with the results.

Thanks to all at Troyer Performance.

From the strip today

After seeing your times on a supercharged 2WD with all that stuff you got, I'm happy with my crewcab 4X4 running 15.3's
...I am jealous though

Love your truck, that is the nicest color scheme of any harley truck IMO.

Being a rare truck in England, what is the reaction of people there who see that gi-normous truck (compared to the small cars they drive) go down the track sub 14s? It must get alot of attention, especially with the blower wine.

There are a few over here but it is out of the ordinary.
Most people are pretty surprised that something that big goes as quick.

Man, that really is a beautiful truck you have there, I love that front bumper cover (and everything else!).

And big-time congrats on getting a second off your previous best times, EXCELLENT!

Though of course as you pointed out, it wasn't exactly a "proper A/B comparison," knocking at least full second off is rather typical for those mods on a truck like that - some knock as much as 1.4 seconds off, it really depends on how well they hook, and of course, the atmospheric conditions during both sessions.

Really nice work there, and one very unique Harley you should be proud of - nice to see some real F-150 representation on your side of the pond!

I LOVE your truck. That is my favorite F150 model and color combo of all time. I was SO close to talking my mom into one back in 2002, but she got a damn Yukon SLT instead because we had over $2,000 credit because we had a GM credit card. BAH!

Oh, congrats!

Thanks guys.

I think there's a few more tenths in it to be honest.
This was the first meeting of the season and it had rained overnight. The track dryers were out first thing
Although they did prepare the start line (somewhat), the track was very slick after the 60' clocks.
I was getting some wheelspin after the prepped part and again, had to feather the throttle as it changed into 2nd because a full power shift would break traction.
I am going again in July when there is a RWYB the day after a Top Fuel meet so the weather should be good and the track sticky.
I will post any new times then.

Again, thanks to all at Troyer. I think I have the fastest 4 door truck in my country

There's a lady where i work has a Smart car. It's actually Silver & Black.

It looks like I could carry it in the bed as the ultimate accessory.

Tyre pressure?

I had to drop the rears to 20psi to get any hook at all and it still wasn't great.
The standard 20" Goodyear GTII's suck as far as grip goes.
The start line was prepped a bit but as soon as you got past the 60' clocks, it would spin on full throttle and again on the 1-2 shift.
I pumped the fronts up to 40psi to minimise rolling resistance.
Every little helps.

I'm convinced there's a 13.6 in it on a decent track with better tyres

I plan on hitting the local 1/8th track once the Roush blower is on. I have never raced at a track before. I currently can not brake loose from a stop gunning it, but suspect a change with the blower.

should I plan on airing down a bit? I do have 22x9.5s with 305/40/22s....so they are about 12.5~ wide and they are a performance tire with a hefty bite.

I'de appreciate any tips you can spare thanks!

Lumadar, There's no quick and easy answer on tyres, pressure and a dragstrip launch. If only it were that easy.
It all depends on the power of your truck, the temperature of the track and how well it has been prepared.
First of all, if you don't have enough power to break the wheels loose, then you don't have anything to worry about.
Going to slicks, drag radials or changing air pressure on your stock tyres will not make the slightest jot of difference. If they are not spinning, they are gripping.
Now, if you up the power level of your truck to the point where the tyres will spin, you have various options for the strip.
1. A set of slicks will give you the best traction and consistancy of launch (important for bracket racing), no contest. If you are going to only race occasionally, you might not want to go to the expense and bother.
Next best is a set of drag radials. Again, another expense and you will not find a slick or a drag radial in 22" so you need new rear wheels as well.
Slicks and Drag Radials have a much softer rubber compound which is why they grip so well. Conversely, slicks are illegal (and dangerous) for the street and drag radials don't have much tread from new so they don't last long.
That leaves the stock tyres.
Ok, there's a few important things to remember with stock tyres.
1. Don't do a massive "John Force" style tyre shredding burnout. Street tyres get really greasy when very hot.
If there's a burnout box, drive around the water and just spin the tyres briefly to clean them.
If you drive through the water, you will pick up water on your front tyres which you will leave all over the start line making things worse for you.
Always follow the instructions/directions of the starter and his crew though.
2. Start off with your tyres at stock pressure and race.
After the first run, if you heard/felt your tyres spinning, you can start to drop the air pressure a little bit on subsequent runs or feather the throttle off the line till the tyres stop spinning on launch.
Don't drop the pressure too much as this is dangerous. I have gone as low as 20psi which launched ok but feels a bit squirrely at the top end of the strip.
Also, if trying to improve your times, only make one chaange at a time or you won't know what is working.

Just as a side note on Drag Radials vs Street Tyres, at that meeting I just did, I was turning 60' times of 2.0 seconds.
There was a Lightning running Nitto 555R Dr's (with more power than me too) and his best 60' time was a 1.9.
That's on $1000 worth of wheels and tyres over my stockers for a 0.1 better time. That is not much bang for the buck to be honest and he was spinning quite badly (overpowering his tyres) while I was feathering my throttle for the best grip.

The best advice I could probably give is to practice your launch and be consistant in your launch technique.
Find a deserted road when it's wet and if safe to do so, mash the throttle from a standing start so you can feel what it's like to really spin the wheels and go nowhere.
Then, modify your technique so you can get away with the minimum spin.
That way, when you get to the track, you will know what it feels like and how to reign it back a bit.

Good luck at the track and let us know how you do.
