A cold air intake kit and a free flow cat back system will get you a better breathing engine. this means theroreticly you should gain mileage. But you will also net yourself more ponies and a better sounding truck. This will lead to a heaver foot and a loss of fuel mileage.
Or you can do what I did..............
Spend a buttload of money on gofast goodies and forget how to calculate your mileage.

The best way to improve your gas mileage is to accelerate smoothly and easily. (Many report better mileage by keeping the RPMs under 1800-2000 during acceleration, trying to anticipate stops well in advance, "coasting" as much as traffic and road conditions will permit, etc.) Doing a search for "gas mileage" will provide a lot of reading material for you to digest.

Many have also reported better gas mileage using a tuner: https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...s+mileage+edge

As mentioned before in these forums, our trucks coast great! I added another whole MPG just by taking foot off gas when it permits. I also find myself coasting faster and having to hit brakes (pisses me off) or I'll rear end the vehicle in front of me.

What do you guys think of the Lucus brand fuel treatment and engine treatment...Should I use it in my new 2005 f150 5.4?
