Edge-what custom settings to use ?

Well, my Edge should be here this afternoon (according to the tracking) !
I've been reading most of the posts and I'm still trying to figure out what type of custome tuning I should do (if any).
If someone could give me some suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.
I have a 05 Scab XLT 4x4 5.4l, stock rims and tires (235/75/17's),
40 series flomaster SI/DO and a Volant CIA.
I'll probably be running 87 for a little while and I'm at sea level (On the Chesapeake Bay)

I would like to also add that I was on the fence with the Xcal2 and Anita from TP kind enough to reply to my email questioning the two. Although she did suggest the Xcal2 because of my mods she said nothing bad about the Edge and said that they could provide that also. What made my decision was the fact that I have the XLT and I like the MPG display (which I don't currently have) along with all the other dispay features the Edge has and also that I can do some of the tuning myself at my discretion(once I learn how to and how far I can and can't go). From what I've been reading, I think both are very good products with outstanding customer service.

Just wanted to put that out.

Thanks in advance

Archer

Load tune 2 program first without changing anything (you won't be disappointed)! One of the things that makes a difference under normal driving is changing the standard shift points (this delays or advances the tranny shift in mph). I put a dealy of +10 on the 3-4 shift...this makes the tranny stay in 3rd longer for more power in traffic situations. Have fun playing!

Archer,

I also have an 05 XLT 4x4 5.4L with a Volant CAI and should be receiving my EDGE this Saturday. The only custom setting I am guessing that we may need to adjust out of the box is the WOT Fuel setting since the air intake/exhaust modifications will cause the engine to run a bit leaner than a stock F-150. Can an experienced EDGE user comment on this?

The following is from another post, it was a reply made by Bill At Edge.

Jim,

As long as there is no detonation, you should be fine on the timing. However, unless you have exhaust and air intake modifications, 1.7 on the WOT fuel might be a tad much. Usually around 1.4 seems to deliver best reults for a stock setup and 1.55 to 1.6 would be good for exhaust and intake (for you altitude, anyway). I tend to err a little on the rich side myself. After all, better rich than lean.

This guy was only at 500ft, nothing extremeley different. At sea level I wouldn't advance the timing beyond the recommended. Edge recommends advancing (1) for every (2) octane. For example: level 3 is setup for 91 octane, if you have 93 octane (2 octane difference) you can bump up the timing by 1. Ultimately you need to listen for detonation (if you get any pinging ....more noticeable under load, back the timing down).

As far as the WOT fuel settings, I think you would be fine with the 1.55-1.6 recommendation (with intake and exhaust). Maybe someone more knowledgable will chime in with more.

Here is a link to the edge manual.....read page 15 custom options...it gives hints for more performance after each adjustment.
