Sell me on the XCAL2

I am contemplating the idea of going in on the group buy for the Troyer XCAL2 for my '05 5.4 Supercrew. I have done all the reading and research on this and other websites concerning the tuner. I just need to be sold on what it'll do for MY truck. Which is stock, with a slip in K&N filter. Please any help or info would be greatly appreciated, I only have until March 10th for the group buy.

Thanks,

Jason

If you have done your homework as you claimed to have, then you should not need any further explanation....

Marc summed it up in a nut shell for you.
I had a Edge, didn't trust my trucks well being to it, sold it, plus if I come across a really good deal on a Roush I/C Supercharger, i'm all over it....Edge is worthless with a charger...XCal2 can be retuned for any mod you may want to do on your truck down the road, or ever your next truck ( as long as it a ford )

I called Mike and order a XCal2 ( FROM READING INFO ) so if reading all you say to have read didn't sell it, nothing I can do for yaa....

Marc put it best, but to give you some detail, better drivability, shifting, and throttle response, just to name a few. I purchased it and I am amazed, and my truck is still not dynoed or fully tuned due to a small issue TP is working on due to the way Ford changed their reflashing. Do a search and read all the comments.

Geez, I ask a simple question, looking for simple answers and I get flamed b/c I have read up on the subject already! Now you can see why I have been a member for a year, and only have 4 threads.

I'm just looking for any help, or advice on what to expect, and possible recommendations on what tune to run w/ my truck (I tow a 16' fishing boat, if this matters, tow tune or street/performance tune?).

Thanks for any help or advice,

Jason

I can't tell a difference with the xcalII. I am glad I got it so I could correct for tire size and gear ratio changes. But far as performance it is a waste of money in my opinion.

I have to just leave mine in the 93 tow because I was changing tunes several times a week. Easier just to leave it on one tune.

If you can't tell any difference from stock to proformance tune, something is wrong, I have never seen a programmer by any maker that you could'nt tell a difference....some more than others, but always a difference...

Was this a canned tune or a custom tune..??

jholtz7 I was in the same predicament about what to get and after reading tons of posts about the xcal and edge, I think mojoe had a good one about both, I decided on the xcal from tp. I haven't got mine yet and the group buy certainly got my **** in gear to order it. A couple of things helped or swayed my decision. The first was my past experience, I had an 02 ranger and got onto rangerpowersports forum, everybody raved about Brian Herons (who now works for sct) ranger tuning, I decided all these people can't be wrong and got his flip chip. Made the truck so much more fun to drive. After buying another F150 I looked for more info an found f150online. This is prob the busiest forum I ever saw and like rps and Brian, tons of people on here swear by TP and Mikes tuning of the f150s. His involvement reminds me of the same great service and info I saw from Brian. Also after seeing a lot of posts about updates and probs etc. it shyed me away from the edge, I know its a new product and all but I NEED my truck too much to deal with trial and error. So now I'm trying to pass the time waiting for my xcal by responding to your thread Hope this helps and just think theres only 3458 threads and 9458795 posts regarding tuners

With due to respect. You mentioned you did all the reading and research about the tuner. Well, my truck is same as yours (probably) mine is an '05 screw 5.4 triton xlt. Just like you I did my homework too, after that I call them and a simple chat drives me to place my order. Now, I'm patiently wait for my Xcal2. My first modification and no plan modifiying intake and exhaust....yet! Besides they says this tuner work to stock intakes and exhaust.

FYI, they will not charge you until the item will be shipped. So still have enough time to fund the item.

Hi Jason,

I don't think anyone is flaming you deliberately, believe it or not - instead, it seems to me that they are simply responding to what you have claimed -

You claimed, and I quote " I have done all the reading and research on this."

Well, if that was actually the case, then there really is nothing else that anyone can tell you. When you claim to "have done all the reading and research on this," and then in the very next sentence turn around and say "I just need to be sold on what it'll do for MY truck" - well, most people can't understand how anyone could possibly have actually "done all the reading & research" yet turn around and even say something like that.

So the responses seem to fit your original post.

See, that's what's happening, just to give you some perspective.

This is also precisely whey several people have told you that if you want any further info than what is here, to give us a call and speak to us about it - as that is the only way you can get any more info than what is already here, as we're the ones doing the actual tuning.

So what I suspect is, you've probably read about the XCalibrator 2, but really haven't read much of anything about what *our custom tuning* actually does for these vehicles. Thus I would suggest that you make use of the excellent SEARCH feature here to look up & read that info, as there are literally thousands of posts to read about what people say our tuning did for their truck. Virtually anything you could want to know along those lines is already posted here - you just need to read it, rather than expect people to try to talk you into this.

Another option, as was pointed out, is to simply give us a call, & we'll be more than happy to answer any questions you have about what our tuning will do for your truck, go over the details with you, etc. Our number is listed below for your convenience.

I hope this helps you to understand why you got the responses you did, and please do feel free to give us a call, OK?

Thanks for your post, & best of luck with your truck!

I don't have any other chip/software experience to compare, but it made all the deferrence in the world. Of course I appear to have had someone other than the threads choice so if you wan to know who PM me.
