Several questions for Mike Troyer...
Do i need to datalog prior to coming to your dyno day? When i come down for the dyno day, which tune do you do the custom tune too? i have 87 tow, 89 performance, 93 performance. Do you customize all three? What fuel octane level do you want in the truck when i get there? Which tires do you want on my truck for the dyno day? I'm currently running my stock 18's due to the weather here in Michigan. I will be putting my 20's back on it pretty soon when the weather warms up. Will my truck fit on your dyno with the larger tires or do you want the stock tires on it? Any updates on the monitor or scan guage for the xcal2?
When people come to our Dyno Day, usually they want us to datalog them and make any needed adjustments to each of their tunes at that time - the only adjustment needed in most cases is generally to the A/F ratios, and the same basic change is made to each tune in the case of "mildly" modified vehicles, in most cases, just to give you a rough idea.
As to what octane to run, most people come here running their premium gas tuning with the best premium gas they can get in the tank, just so they can see the highest power numbers!
We also prefer to dyno it on the most aggressive tune, simply because if there is going to be a difference in the A/F's between the various tunes, it's usually going to be just slightly leaner on the most aggressive tune - but ti's a tiny difference, if any, generally speaking. So you actually could run it on any tune, bu tit's nice to see what it can make on the premium gas performance tunes for most people.
As for wheels & tires, any wheel & tire will fit as long as they do NOT stick out past your fenders - any tire that sticks out past the fenders (meaning that does NOT fit it's entire width inside the fenderwell at the top) is a poor choice, and should not be used on the vehicle - they will cause damage to the paint from slinging rocks on the side of the vehicle, as well as the fact that they may or may not fit on the dyno's drum. For example, one of our people here has a 2004 F-150 that he just put a set of wheels & tires on that sticks out past the fenderwell, an it just *barely* fits on the dyno - and they don't stick out much. the only reason he gets to run his vehicle on our dyno is because he works here - we will not run ANY vehicle whose tires do not fit within the fenderwell,s due to the potential for danger & damage, form things like a wheel weight flying off at 140 mph, etc. SO you want the tires to fit within the wheel well, basically - and that is usually not an issue unless someone puts the wrong wheel offset on the vehicle. Any wheel with the correct amount of backspacing/offset will cause the tire to fit within the wheel well -
Also, remember that you will see the highest power with the factory wheels & tires (between those 2 specific choices), as they are lighter than 20" wheels & tires - the more weight in the wheel & tire, the LESS power you actually get to the ground - both on a dyno and in the real world. Conversely, the lighter the wheel & tire weight/mass is, the MORE power gets put to the ground, which is why drag racers run light wheels.
Now it doesn't make any difference in the tuning, other than the speedo calibration - but if you want to see what kind of power that truck is really making compared to stock, you'd want to bring it down on the stock wheels & tires.

You're very welcome, & I'll post the other info as soon as we've got solid info on it - we'll be making a separate post regarding the date we set for the Dyno Day - we think we've got a date, but we need a couple more days to make sure, as we still need to get in a lot more infrastructure at the new shop - it's a major undertaking, because we're having to keep fully operational, at the same time as we get moved into the new shop - so that means we have to order all new desks, chairs, computers, get the network up & running, the phone jacks all installed and the lines set up so that we make that transition as smoothly as possible. It's quite a big deal to change locations and not miss a beat!
At first, we were just going to do the first Dyno Day without actually being moved into the shop fully - the dyno itself has been up & running for a few weeks now - but we're thinking that we really want to have moved in, and, even though it won't be anywhere near "finished" at that point, we'd like to at least be operating out of there for at least a week so that we have all the basics at our disposal - now whether that works out as we'd like it to really depends on delivery dates for furniture (desks, chairs, etc.) and getting everything else in. If it goes too slow, then we'll just do the Dyno Day without being "moved in" yet, but we're trying to make it so that we will be operational at the new shop by Dyno Day. So that final decision is a bit up in the air.
The Group Buy was also an overwhelming smash - I must admit that even though we knew people would love it, it's been a huge success beyond even what we imagined, so that too, has put a lot of additional work load on us, so it's just incredible the work load everyone here is under right now!
So hang in there, we'll be making the date announcement before much longer - we have to get verified on delivery & completion dates of a significant amount of additional work yet - and thanks for your understanding on all of that.

Hey Brad,
Then there's a brand new thread that may be of interest to you!
And then give me a call so we can talk when you get a chance, as if you can make it in on that Friday, we'll be ready for you!
