Edge Evolution Disconnected
Edge Evolution Disconnected
Since I have had my evolution I have not been able to perform any updates. I have the software installed and have talked to a edge tech. When I hook up my edge to my computer it never connects to the computer through the usb port. I have tried all the ports on my computer and edge even sent me a new patch cord, which I just tried no luck. When I pull up the edge from my desktop and connect the bottom of the window say's disconnected. I think I must have a problem on my end. But I'm no computer wizz. Any help out there. Thanks

Anyway, do your USB ports work?
Have you connected anything else thru the USB ports that worked successfully?
Did you install both drivers. The Edge has separate USB drivers that must be installed.
I thought I had correctly installed the software and mine was doing the same thing. Told me the unit was not connected. THEN..I read the readme.txt that downloaded with the software and it explained the software install in far better terms than the manual. As it turned out, I had NOT installed the software correctly. I would suggest you read that file, follow it's lead and see if that gets you where you are supposed to be. Worked for me..

When I was dealing with the tech on the phone we unistalled everything that I had done and reistalled again. So I think that everything is done properly? I have a scandisk hooked up to my usb port which reads my cards from my digital camera. In the past when I put in a card the pics would automatically come up. Now I have to go into my mydesktop to pull them up. Also the same with my CD/Rom. Also when I plug in any device to the usb, I get a doorbell type sound from the computer like a (dung, dung, dung). I've tried all the usb ports with no luck. I have also looked through my desktop under usb ports and it basically says all ports are fine. Boy am I lost!!
Windows XP I assume?
Unplug the device and keep it unplugged.
Uninstall all the software.
Right click on my computer and go to properties
Hardware
Device Manager
Do you see anything with yellow exclamation points that could be this usb device? If so right click uninstall.
Click the X and Ok.
Install all the software and reboot. Make sure the device is still unplugged.
When Windows reboots then plug the device in. You should hear the beep and you should see in the bottom right Windows installing the drivers.
This is generic installation on any USB device but the key is not to hook up the unit until the software is installed completely.
Good Luck

Hey Guys... Ive got a friend who just got one of these yesterday and I just had this exact problem. If you do like Vader said, it MAY work, but it didnt for me yesterday. I had to get Properties on My Computer and actually get properties on the Edge (It was plugged in for me or it wouldnt come up) and update the driver for the Edge. I told it "Have Disk" when it asked for the location of the drivers and then selected the driver file I got from Edge that looked like it was for XP. then, I had to install a second driver before anything would work.
I wish I could give better info, but this was on a friends CPU and I fix computers every day so i forget exactly... Anyways I hope this helps and if you need more info I can get it.

First I would like to thank everyone that responded. I tried Vaders trick but did not work. Then tried Robamus suggestion and with the help of my wife it connected. I now have Firmware version 13 and Calibration version 15a. I thought the latest version for calibration was 14? Thanks again everyone.

As I recall, and that is saying something all of this is exactly what the readme.txt says to do. Seriously, read it...it's the only readme.txt I've ever seen that is worth reading.

Yeah the readme basically says to use the install program. That didnt work for me. I had to manually associate the correct drivers to the device, and there are 2. The readme said to reinstall and we did it about 10 times, but Im glad to hear you got it working.
