Problem with Xcal2....

.....that got resolved by Troyer Performance. I've had my xcal2 from TP for about 8 weeks now, running the 91 perf tune the whole time. Anyways, one night, about a week ago, when it was time to fill up with fuel, I decided to try the 87 perf tune. So, I fill up and before I start up the truck, I proceeded to reflash the PCM. All's going well until I get to the "verifying stock calibration" screen and it just freezes there. After about 10 minutes of waiting on this screen, I'm suspecting something went wrong, so I turn off the key, unplug the unit, and try again. Same thing happened. At this point, I just want to get home, so I unplug again and proceed to flash the stock tune and was successful.

The next day while at home, I decided to re-try flashing the PCM again, with no avale. At this point I wanted to see if I could flash the 91 tow & perf tunes to make sure those are OK, and guess what, those tunes now have the same problem. I called TP and advised of the problem. They informed that this problem has never came up. So, TP puts me in touch with SCT suspecting a hardware problem. After about an hour on the phone with SCT troubleshooting, we still can not get the xcal2 working.

After a few days, TP calls me (last Sunday) and informs SCT has never seen this problem before, and that they (TP) are going to replace my xcal2 with a new one . Although this should have been a pia experience, it really wasn't because TP pretty much handled everything. Today, I even got a call from Mike to briefly go over the problem. Anyways, this is the 1st time I've actually had the opportunity to speak with him, so of course I pick his brain on some near-future performace mods. The information I received was very detailed and gave me alot of confidence of what I wanted to achieve.

Thanks to Troyer Performace for the truely great service. Also, to any of you that are like me, who doesn't know a whole lot about performance modding, and are on the fence about a tuner, you must call Troyer Performance, it will be worth your while.

Sorry for the long post, and the moral of my story is not to panic when/if something goes wrong, just go thru the proper channels and everything will be taken care of in a timely matter.

Hi Susano,

Thanks for your post!

I enjoyed getting a chance to speak with you for a while - I hate that you had a problem, and as you said, we've never had an issue like that before, but it sounded to me like the only way to handle that properly was to replace the unit for you.

Thanks very much for calling us, & working with us on this - we greatly appreciate it - and your kind words here are greatly appreciated as well, that was very kind of you!
