For those of you on the fence

I think your joining us Troyer fanatics will do more to stop the senseless bashing that goes on than anything. I commend you on your willingness to step up and make the call. I have secretly admired what you've done to the Navigator, as the owner of a blown 3 ton sled myself! I am making just under 300hp with my TP tuned Xcal...and that is before the tweaks!
Keep us posted here and on the blower forum how it works out!

Well, I am hoping for some serious change with Mikes tune. He knew several issues just based on my dyno run with peak HP occuring at 3800rpm. Now, we all know that a centrifugal blower shouldn't peak at 3800rpm, it should keep running till you let off it or it lets go, whichever comes first. I am quite confident that he can bring this puppy to life far better than it is as it stands. I finished filling out the book, er I mean sheets today and am faxing them in tomorrow. (he'll get a kick out of a few comments on the sheet, like the what quarter mile time would you expect, I put 9 seconds hehehe)

Call Mike. I've been the one who didn't really agree with Mike on here since I first started posting, and we've butted heads a few times. But today I talked to him on the phone for an hour and a half, and the man knows his stuff. Now, I can't say what his tuning is going to do yet as I haven't had the chance to test it, but I ordered it. The man has a wealth of knowledge on every single piece of equipment on these trucks, from the PIA computer I am so fortunate to have all the way down to the tranny cooler and the type of fittings it has. I don't think I have ever, in all my years of goofing off with performance stuff talked to someone who knows his platform that well.
Now, for all of you waiting to finish reading this and take pot shots at me for this, I have an icon for you....
The end point of this post, Mike is a great guy that was willing to spend almost two hours of his time on the phone with me even after I was a chitass on the boards towards him. We'll get the final analysis later on next month after we have installed the tune and tweaked it, but I think I already know the verdict.
Thanks Mike
Brett

The power of the dark side $ucks. Welcome to the light!
I hope a lot of people see this thread.
It's true Troyer Performance is a great company to do buisness with. We have so many choices. The thing is when you get on the phone and talk to Mike and Anita you realize that it's more than just doing buisness, it's trusting the people your doing buisness with. Some might search for the lowest price but I think a few more dollars is worth it when you trust who your buying from.
I wish I could buy more from them, my wish list is long. Thing is this being a home owner stuff is highly over rated and takes money away from my wish list. I don't like to spend money on things that don't increase power and driveability, but I've got to keep a roof over our heads.

I have also talked to Mike on the phone. Like 45 minutes ordering plugs, boost mod and a filter. It makes me wonder how he can get anything done. 5 or 6 calls like that and the day would be shot. And then there is the internet. It is rare that Mike does not have the longest post on anything that is mentioned. Don't get me wrong...I think he does a great job. But I just can't see him taking care of everyone without some skilled employees.
I think its time to give Mike a call....Xcal2.

That's just it - he absolutely has skilled staff, but last time I heard, Mike still does all the custom tuning personally. That's why he's up basically 24/7, just like his Fax machine.
It must help that he 'automates' it some, as indicated by the custom tuning datalogging spreadsheets, as just one example, to ease the burden of data analysis. But it's still gotta be a TON of work. Mike basically redefines the terms 'workaholic', 'multi-tasking', and capability'... incredible.
<Easter egg alert ! The Excel SS tab says 'Neal1'
>BTW - I had the pleasure of talking to none other than Marc Carpenter recently when I called up to ask some questions - a pleasant surprise - so there is no doubt Mike has enlisted excellent folks to work with him. Marc came across as committed and professional as Mike himself. When the term 'living the dream' comes up, you know you have something & someone special.
I am one happy customer. I too hope a lot of folks see this thread.
Now - back to datalogging, now that all my stuff (X2, LM-1, 3 miles of cabling, and docs up the wazzoo) has arrived.
Cheers!
Vic

Hi everyone,
First, thanks to the Webmaster (Steve Eppinger) for dropping by this thread - my wife & I had the pleasure of taking Steve to a world-class Italian restaurant out in Las Vegas a we months ago at the annual SEMA show - we eat there every time we go to Vegas, and have been for years - you simply can't find a better Ossobucco (sp?), etc. And Steve gave us a quick primer in sampling wine - personally, I'm not a wine drinker, but my wife is, she loves it - and as it turns out, Steve is quite the expert, and guided us in our choice! So thanks for dropping by Steve, and if you're at SEMA next year, we'll have to do it again.
For everyone else - again, all I can say is THANK YOU! Your support means more than mere words could ever express - it's rewarding beyond words to see so many people recognizing what we have to go thru here to do what we do, and that is very humbling - thank all of you, so very much.
Also - for those who may not know - Marc Carpenter has come on board with us on a part-time basis - he still lives up in Ohio with his family of course, but he has been coming down lately, helping out with everything from our dyno installation to various aspects of getting the new shop ready, to manning the phones & thus many of you have had a chance to speak with Marc when he's here. It does indeed take people with a lot of talent to make an operation like this work, and he's one of them. With 16 years experience at Ford, and years of experience being the Crew Chief of a Funny Car drag race team operation, as well as quite a bracket racer i his own right, Marc brings a lot to the table.
As was pointed out, I still insist that every single tune be done by me personally - which is why sometimes it's hard to get me personally on the phone, and why sometimes it's a day or two between my appearances here - and why I consider it a privilege to work like we do - it's the only way I know how to keep control over what we insist be our minimum acceptable standard of work - world class. While we do not achieve that 100% of the time (nobody does) the first time around in every single case, that is always our standard, and nothing less is ever acceptable as a final result.
The truth is, we owe all of our success, our capability, etc to YOU - not to us. It is YOU who make everything we do possible, and believe me, we know that - so mere words can never convey our appreciation. All we can do is say.......THANK YOU!
And a special thanks to Brett (98Navi), I'm just tickled pink that he & I could finally talk & enjoy each other's pint of view - job well done, Brett!

"Living the Dream", sounds like a good name for a book.
Maybe someday when I get tired of (not ever likely to happen) being involved with performance and racing, I will attempt to write it
But for now I will enjoy being involved and working with Mike, Anita, Crystal, and the many others that comprise "Troyer Performance".
Mike and I have been friends for many years, and when the oppurtunity came along for me to be associated with his business, I literally jumped at the chance. Leaving my own Automotive related business in Ohio in the hands of my very "loving and understanding" wife and daughters.
Being involved in the metamorphosis that is taking place with the shop relocation and lending a hand with many of the other aspects of Troyer Performance, including speaking to and assisting those of you that call for information and to place orders, is "Living the Dream".
I want to thank all of those that I have spoke with in the past, and encourage those of you that want only the best performance and personal service both before and after the sale to give Troyer Performance a call for your tuning needs.
Come to think of it, thats the way this whole dream I am living started for me several years ago

Its kinda funny really, reading this. For those of you who haven't read, I am in the automotive business too. (the cleaning and maintenence end of it)(and a special thanks to the nasty bastards out there, I appreciate all of the sickness I get from your cars) It is a real pleasure when you do something for someone and they constantly praise you for it, even months or years later. ANd it is great to help someone else out once in while that could really use it, as I did working now for my dad.
On another note, I have filled out my paperwork mike, I am just trying to finish gathering the parts of my intercooler setup so I'll have it finished by the time your programming comes in. I'll call you monday for the transgo kit, as I didn't find it here locally. (they all have b&m electronic kits around here)

Say, that's right - I almost forgot that 98Navi is *also* in the automotive business - in his case, he is in the extremely important maintenance & cleaning end of things, so he gets to see everyone's vehicles at their worst - when they need maintenance & cleaning! (Speaking of which , we have a few vehicles of our own here that are in need of attention in the detailing department - we've been rather lax over this wet, muddy & nasty filthy winter we've had here in the mountains of VA!)
Funny how i can be a small world - so many people are in the automotive business in one way or another - and it really always gets down to a matter of service. In my discussion with Brett, I'll bet he's a stickler in his business - I'll bet he has the same kind of extremely high standards that we do, and I think that anyone who has those kinds of standards tends to be someone with more "drive" and who is passionate about what they do - and frankly, we need more people like that, in *all* walks of life!

Alright mike, its in your hands now. The sheets are in, the fax is done. I was almost (- - that close to driving up there and just spending a couple days in VA, but I think I might have come back divorced and it is really her Navi so I had to just let the fax machine to traveling for me) 7 hours and 15 minutes each way, and I'd have done it in a NY minute just to meet Troyer in person, damn wife.
Some guys. girls on here may still be " on the fence" this might make you jump in to the Xcal2, I had a 04 FX4 scab took it to the drag strip and ran 16.4-16.8, traded it in and to an 05 Lariat Screw "heavy ****!" and I just got back from the drag strip and ran 15.4 @ 88.11 just to show you what Mike Troyer can do with our HEAVY beasts!
Hi Guys,
For 98Navi - while we'd love to see you, we don't' want you getting a divorce in the process!!! Besides, the dyno is not yet open to the public - we have tuned a couple of pro racers who had to get done in time for the season opener in Florida, but it's basically not going to be open for a few weeks yet to the public.
Glad to hear you got the CPW's done, & we'll take care of it from there!
For FX4Matt - thanks for your times on your new 2005 SuperCrew Lariat - I don't remember exactly what your mods are on that 2005, but it is nice to have a solid mid to low 15-second normally aspirated 3-ton truck, given that your 2004 ExtCab was apparently running about a second slower!
