Ok Guys Help Me Out

I have a 05 f-150 5.4 3.73 rear end supercrew. I also have a diablo predator tuner and flowmaster exhaust. I have no other performance mod's. I am in the market for a CAI and possibly a throttle body spacer. I have looked and researched several CAI set up's and I think I am going with the volant kit. My question is would I be throwing away the money with a throttle body spacer? Will it be to loud? Just curious if anyone on here has a set up close to that. Just for the record I only run Sonoco 94 octane. Should I look at another set up or will this one be a good choice. I am posting the here because I have read alot of good forums, and you guys know your stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I read an article regarding throttle body spacers and it was mentioned that they are good for "paper-weights" I don't have any experience with one so I can only say from what I have read. It has been mentioned that the CAI alone is best and that they did not notice any MPG increase or EXTRA performance with a throttle body spacer. So from the threads I have read, I really haven't heard of anyone being too emotionally attached or extremely impressed with the spacers. But if it makes you happy and you have the money to splurge, give it a try for yourself and form your opinion. Some mods for our trucks are good and others are out to make a buck, I think the throttle body spacers may give some sort of increase but nowhere near what they claim, Definitley read-up some more or take a chance. Good luck

From what I can gather, throttle body spacers don’t add much hp, if any, on our trucks

They *do* actually do some good on older TBI (throttle body injection) designs, like the 80's GM trucks, and the Mopar 3.9 V6, 5.2 & 5.9 V8's all the way up thru 2003, they still use antiquated TBI setups. On TBI setups, a throttle body spacer sits on a "conventional" intake manifold & thus the spacer actually does increase plenum volume, and thus give you a little bit more HP on the top end. But on non-TBI vehicles, I just don't feel they are worthwhile

The throttle body spacer is a paperweight - it won't hurt you, but it really doesn't add anything. Having a top quality intake kit is the #2 best bang for the buck mod, Air Force One does the best job there

In terms of your present mods, that throttle body spacer is basically a paperweight, it does basically nothing for the performance of the vehicle so you can either keep or ditch that part, whichever you prefer - the Airaid intake kit does work well in these 5.4 3V F-150's, in fact it's our #2 pick in intake kits for your truck
Hey Indiana, is that Sunoco 94 you use oxygenated?

Ok, I purchased the volant kit on ebay. I bought it from socalmotorsports for $235.00. I submitted him a best offer and he accepted. I did not purchase the throttle body spacer. Thanks for all of the reply's guys.

If that Sunoco 94 you’re using is oxygenated it should say so right on the pump

If you are running the diablo w/o adding timing you might be able to get a little more out of it considering i was running the 93octane performance tune on 91 with no pinging.
