Edge diagnostic/meter swapping?

I have no idea how to search for this, I came up with nothing anyway.

I understand you can't program two trucks at once. But would you be able to swap the unit back and forth to view diagnostics and meters? I'm thinking specifically of the instant MPG and hopefully the future average MPG function.

The vehicles in mind are a 2004 F150 and a 2000 Stratus. In theory it should work, but I just wasn't positive. I use the truck mostly for back and forth to work and the car for road trips. I would be interested in using the ONE unit for both vehicles in other words.

I really doubt that you'll be able to use the edge unit in a Stratus being it has a completely different computer system then the F-150. If you were using it in two F-150 I think it would work, not a completely different manufacturer.

are you talking about a Dodge Stratus? Nope wont work. This tuner that works on 04-06 F150s is specific for those trucks only. You cant even use it on an 03 F150 because of the different computer and diagnostic port.

This has got to be a 'trick question'.

Would the ODB II code reader features of the tuner still work? Can't possibly function for the programming or guages, but might display DTCs. No realtime value and not what KSU was getting at.

Nope wont work. Only works on CAN equipped F150.
Lets just let this thread die and move on.

You can only use it on 04-06 F150, if that is the model you buy.

That answers the question. I knew the Stratus has the OBDII system in it, but didn't know for sure if Edge would be compatible with it.

Well, I think the EDGE engineer could answer that better. I have a scanguage and it works on any vehicle that is obd II equiped. If the EDGE is just reading the normal info provided by the OBD, why wouldn't it work on any vehicle? I am not talking about tuning, just as a monitor.

I may have to try it.

I sent the question to Edge tech support about 30 minutes ago, here is their reply: "The Evolution is designed specifically for the F-150. It is not calibrated or tested to work on any other vehicle. It may comunicate with other Kan bus cars but we recomend that you only use it for the F-150"

Just take the stratus to Autozone or advanced auto parts or whatever you have there and get them to read the code. they should do it for free. Then jump on a stratus message board and search for the CEL codes.

No no, I'm not looking for codes to clear. Just wanting the MPG readings and such. Obviously the verdict is it won't work. Thanks anyway.
