Hypertech and a K&N?

Question Hypertech and a K&N?

hi all, i have a 2005 f150 fx4 with hypertech II's 87 octane performance tune on my truck now. what i want to know before i go and buy it is will installing a k&n fipk make my truck run to lean with the hypertech? i contacted hypertech before i bought it and the tech there said it should be ok BUT they didnt run tests with the k&n installed. anyone running the hypertech and a k&n together?

The name "hypertech" should give you a clue not to buy. If your going to invest in something, don't waste your money on their products.

Hi.

How would those running that combo (or any other aftermarket intake / tuner combo) really know for sure?

Running lean does not always set a CEL.

The only way to know for sure is to measure A/F's with a wideband - as in datalogging for example.

It's common knowledge by now, if you take the time to search here, that a lot of the newer trucks are running too lean from the factory - your hypertech won't address that, and a non-stock intake can just exacerbate the problem.

Perhaps a dyno session is in order, if you really want to be sure.

While waiting for the real experts ( I'm largely self-taught by doing a LOT of reading, so I insist that you don't just take my word for it), do some research on the topic for yourself.
