Thumbs up Diablosport Predator

I got my Predator Programmer in and I'm tinkering with the shift points and shift pressure. I love this thing. I have the 1-2 shift @ 5330 as well as the 2-3 shift. It's about right. I'll keep posted what feels best. I also did a ring and pinion gear swap from the stock, horribly sluggish 3.55 to a 4.10. That really helped move the truck down the road better. I can actually feel all that horsepower and torque now.

I have one also. I love it. It took me a long time to get it where I want it. It's perfect now. Enjoy it.

I got a 3:55 posi and the 4:10 definitely sounds righteous but I’m afraid it would put the kibosh on the fairly decent mpg I’m getting now, 16 or so local driving

I bet your truck really jumps out of the hole now compared to before

Honestly I think I'm getting the same if not better city mileage. I haven't figured it up yet. It takes less gas pedal to get the truck moving. I think where you'd see a slight gas mileage decline would be on the highway because of running steady with the rpm turning faster than with the 3.55s. But it still wouldn't be that noticeable. Definately worth the extra couple of gas dollars a year to have my truck pull this hard. I smoked my friend's 2005 Hemi truck twice in a row a couple of weeks ago after the gear swap. (His Hemi came factory with 3.92s) He rode in mine the other night after the programmer came in and it blew his mind.

Thats the same reason I have been sluggish in the consideration of the 4.10's in mine. I have the 3.73LS and I'd really just like something to get my 305/50-20s rolling quicker, maybe even get this big bastard to chirp once without rain or gravel underneath it! But I don't want to loose it highway wise, as running 8000#'s or more fully loaded with the family and traveling, I do speeds in excess of 85MPH for extended times. Thats the only thing thats really kept me from doing it.

jp- I'm not too exact with mileage calcs, I do them in my head at each fill up. But I haven't noticed a drop with 410's after a few months now. Almost all town driving - on the freeway it is pretty noticable - 2,000 rpm @ 60 mph with 305's. Your results may vary.

Grant54 - When you adj shift points, is it through your programmer, and not using your tach, right? Or does your programmer verify the rpm's in some way?

By the way Navi - I think you have to regear the vss driven gear in a 98 like I did. I got lucky and found the right combo for my tires, within 3% at 60 mph. LOL

I am adjusting shift points through my programmer. The programmer does give live data but I adjust mostly by how the powerband feels. I make the adjustments then take it for a spin. I don't rely on the tac so much because it isn't dead on and I think it varies slightly. You want to shift at the top right at where the pull of the powerband starts to fall off and land on the next gear close to the peak torque.

Navi - The difference between vss gears when changing from 373 to 410 is only 9%....... so if the gear is 17 teeth x 109% = 18.53 ...... you could try a 19 with your taller tires...... mine was $ 15 or so for a 21 tooth. LOL
