Well, you were right on the money on that one!
For those of you who have had the pleasure of talking with Mike Troyer, you know what a treat that is! Made my day, it did.
Say hello to the expectant new father of an Xcal2 - still in the oven, but due shortly
For 05SilverFX4; yup, I'll say the Hail Marys worked !
I've always wanted to do this nanner thingy ...
Fortunately, I'm the patient sort. Now excuse me while I step out to buy flowers and make dinner reservations for you-know-who...
Cheers!

Hi MGDFan,
Thanks, I'm just happy we were able to work out a trade-up deal so you could get out of your 9100 and into the XCal 2. I had to laugh, as first, I thought I had forgotten that you had a 9300, but then when we spoke, you reminded me that it was a 9100 instead - so it's a good thing I don't try to work off of memory for who's got what!
For ONELOWF,
Excellent, glad to hear it! Those blower kits need the additional hardware, and once they get the proper MAF, injectors, fuel pump & tuning, it makes a lot more power, feel much better, and is far safer, too. Glad to see that worked out for you, have fun with the new setup!

Meanwhile, I'm filling my time by engaging in discussions with several 'local' Dyno facilities, trying to pick the most interested one, who knows what to do and will provide the A/F's & info I need to correectly datalog.
It's been real fun so far - already, a couple have told me NO flat out, unless I buy a tuning product from them. Geez, some of you guys are lucky finding folks with the proper mind-set.
If this persists, I'll be buying an LM-1 from Mike and doing the A/F's myself.
[Mike - any used or RMA'd LM-1's in stock? I'll take one
]I'll let y'all know how it goes, and when the Little One arrives

Hi Vic,
First - you shouldn't have any problem at all finding a dyno facility, as they don't' need to datalog anything other than just giving you 3 runs with Air/Fuels - very standard. Remember, the XCalibrator 2 datalogs everything *else* besides the A/F's, so all any dyno facility needs to do is put your vehicle on the dyno and do a set of 3 pulls with A/F's - in other words, you don't need to shop for one that will datalog, you do the datalogging with your XCal 2 and a laptop, using the Live Link software, version 2.18. You'll get all that additional info in with your XCal 2 when it arrives, we go over what you need in addition to the XCal 2 to datalog, meaning the software, and where to download it, etc. SO don't sweat trying to find a dyno to datalog, they don't need to do anything other than power & A/F's.
Last - no, we would never have any "RMA'd LM-1's" - we've never had a problem with one, but if there were any issue, the service is done thru the manufacturer, so any RMA's on that unit would only be directly to the manufacturer for repair or replacement, it would not come back to us. Now with that being said, if you like, we CAN make you a deal on the unit we have been using in-house for mobile datalogging, if you like. It's the "tuner" version seen on our web site, just to give you an idea. It includes what is needed for a permanent installation, and also has all the additional pieces so that you can throw it on any vehicle in 5 minutes, and then take it right back off, and then put it on the next vehicle, and so on. Of course it includes all the software & cables to connect to a PC or laptop as well, so you can view and print out the graphs, and includes the RPM Extender for additional analog inputs, etc. It can also take any firmware updates as Innovate releases them as well, so you have all the latest features - I think we did one update on it a while back, if memory serves, so I don't know if there are any later firmware versions than what we have loaded up already, but if so, they can easily be downloaded & installed. So if you decide to go that route, and want that version of it, just give me a call & we'll see if we can come to terms on it, if you like.
Good luck!

Thanks for the speedy reply Mike !
W.R.T dyno facilites, I haven't given up, but was a bit peeved with the reluctance of a couple of these guys to do simple pulls for A/F's, if I didn't also invest in some of their mechandise.
This was, admittedly, over the phone - I still need to do the face-to-face, hopefully with the owners, and try to convey exactly what it is I wish to do. Fortunately, within a 100 mile radius I have several facilities to choose from.
Hoo boy, you make that LM-1 almost irresistable. I will call shortly.
I suspect yet another dozen long-stems and a visit to that fancy over-priced French place my Boss is partial to is in my future
.
What is it with women and French restaurants, anyway? Gimme a 20oz Porterhouse and a Microbrew, and an Xcal2 any day and I'm one happy little puppy. I'm just too simple.
Cheers

Added LM-1 to my toybox
Well, after suffering dissatisfaction with some local Ricer Shop dyno facilites, I took the plunge and ordered an LM-1 - Tuner version - from Mike.
A nice companion for the new arrival
.
I've been going over the Innovate Motorsports website - an *excellent* source of information - well worth a look: http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/. Tons of application/tech notes / tutorials, useful utilities (e.g. Logworks 2.0), a forum, etc - There goes my weekend - me brain, she's-a-full ...
[ Of particular interest was an article on accelerator pump tuning. I've got a vintage '68 Corvette roadster ( 327c.i / 350 horse smallblock, close ratio 4-speed stick, Red)) with the finicky 650 cfm Holley double pumper. Always tinkering to keep it running right. Anyway this article discusses using the LM-1 to assist in setting it up properly. Ahh, the possibilities! What a pleasant surprise. Could kick myself now for not discovering this sooner - like I said, I must be simple. ]

Thanks again Mike!

I read some of the installation instructions for the LM-1 and noticed it recommends using the bung to mount the O2 sensor, and discourages using the truck’s tail pipe for obtaining the correct reading. (tail pipe reading is not as accurate leaner-than-reality) I thought they used the tail pipe to get the A/F reading at dyno shops?
Hi guys;
Mike talked about this yesterday evening.
While it's true that a *properly* mounted wideband installed in the correct location upstream of the cats is the most accurate, the excellent tailpipe clamp that comes with the LM-1 Tuner version places the sensor in the optimum location close to dead center on the pipe - where the (laminar) flow is the most consistent - not near the pipe walls (see Mike, I was paying attention, even though I was very excited
.
This allows readings that are within a few points of where it would be in the 'permanent' install location, far enough away from excessive Cat heat that would skew the readings even more, and well within acceptable limits for Mike to do his magic.
The bonus for me will be the ability to quickly mount / remove the instrument.
Even a caveman like me can be taught. I'm inhaling the h/w & s/w manuals, app/tech notes, etc as we speak ...
Cheers

I've got the LM-1 as well, you'll love it.
I had a muffler shop weld the bung in above the cat to mount the O2 sensor. Took him about 10 minutes and only charged me $10. When I want to use the LM-1, it just takes a few minutes to install the sensor and route the cables. Probably no longer than if I used the tailpipe clamp.
