Xcal2 owners.........
Ok i would like to say this first I don't want people getting pissy-pants over what people have to say and we dont need anymore bashing of tuners. I just would like to get some feedback from people who have the Xcal 2 tuned by MT. I have my Xcal2 on order it will be here soon
Ok here's my thoughts and experiences with the x-cal II. I received mine at the end of Aug 05 so its been in my truck 4 1/2 months and approx 5 k miles now. This is the first of this type of device I've ever done and was a little unsure what to expect. My 05 Lariat actually ran really well in stock tune. I have a 60 mile day commute all highway and averaged 16.5 to 17.5 mpg on that drive. I started out on the 87 perf tune and noticed big gains right away. Much better shifting and much better part to wide open throttle power. Switched to the 93 perf tune and the truck came alive!
When you are just cruising around normal you dont notice much difference. From about 2500 rpm's up at wide open throttle its a HUGE improvement. I mean it pulls like no 3 ton tank has a right to pull. My only downside to it is a pretty good reduction in fuel economy. I went from mid 17's to mid 14's at very best. Now every one will say thats from ******* it all the time but I don't. My thought is that mine was one of the one's Mike says are very lean from the factory hence the good mileage. If thats the case I can live with it as the power jump is well worth it. Sorry for the long post but you will be very glad you bought it....I am.

Its not a guess, it was put on the dyno before and after install.
I should have said the X-Cal1 is tuned by Mike. It is the first mod I ever did on the truck and well worth it. I just didn't switch to X-cal2 when it came out and there was a trade-in. :o My wife even noticed how much better the truck was after Mike's tunes.
Mike, any possible trade in now for stupid people who now regret not upgrading to the X-Cal2????? Doh!!!

I have the Troyer tuned Xcal2 and love it. It provided very impressive gains over stock. Before I started to mod my truck, I decided to pick up a Gtech PRO so I could track the gains from the mods. Here's a few numbers I've gotten off it.
These 2 runs were done on the same road, same direction, within 15 minutes of each other.
Stock:
0-60 in 8.2
1/4 mile in 16.3 @ 84mph
222hp
93 Perf tune:
0-60 in 7.1
1/4 mile in 15.5 @ 89mph
257hp
I've run a best of 14.9 @ 93mph in cooler weather with my stock XLT wheels and tires.
I also run the LM-1 Wideband A/F meter. Stock the A/F was 14.7 during a WOT run, with the 93 Perf tune it's 11.5.

You will be very glad you made this purchase
I now have 6000 miles on mine with the Xcal2. Aside from the greatly improved drivability the ability to read and erase codes is great. I baught a locking gas cap and 2 times now it was not tight enough and threw a code. I hooked up the Xcal and erased it. my wifes SUV also threw a code and I was able to read it and erase it. I had the Xcal1 before this and it was just a box to deliver a tune, the Xcal2 is much better. I gained 40 HP and 35 FT/LB torque. My gas milage improved enough to offset the cost of the 93 octane, well worth it to me. I did my datalogging and I did not require any updates.

Like SAJEFFC this was my first time tuning a truck and was very worried about screwing up my truck. I went with Mike because he has been tuning F150'S for years. The difference is like night and day.
The only thing that pisses me off is his shop is so Friggin far from me. I would love to go to a dyno day. I'm going to try datalogging myself in a few weeks at a local dyno shop. You want regret it.

After running multiple tunes from custom well known tuners on my GM's and many mail order hand helds, nothing I have had on any other vehilce can compare to Mike's tuned XCal2 for my F150 5.4L we it comes to noticing the difference. Made my truck feel like it should. Best mod yet for me period... My next goal is to do gears and go visit Mike and the gang for a dyno session.
I have to say I am humbled and very grateful to see this thread and it's content - wow! Thank all of you very much for the kudos, we're delighted that you are happy with our tuning.
For Kevin - yes, if you want to do a trade-up deal with your 9300 to get into the 9400 (XCal 2), we'll be happy to work that out for you, we'd like to see everyone in the 9400 and get that datalogging done, but more importantly, be able to enjoy all of it's features & benefits. So just cal us & we'll be happy to work that out for you, Kevin.
Thanks everyone, for your very kind comments - your support is what makes everything we do & go thru here at Troyer Performance worthwhile - without you, we are nothing - so from everyone here at Troyer Performance, THANK YOU!

Hi Matt,
Excellent, we look forward to seeing you at our next Dyno Day!
We're planning to have another one next month, as our new dyno should be installed by roughly Feb 7th-8th or so, and we're hoping to have made enough progress on this next building to at least do a Dyno Day by sometime in February - though the rest of the shop won't be finished probably for several months at least after that, in terms of how we want it (well, actually, it'll probably take 2 years to get everything just like we want it, but you get the basic drift!).
By the way, we got the note with your request on January 9th to change the selection of your tunes to 87 Performance, 93 Tow & 93 Performance, so we'll make sure that gets changed for you. Hopefully we'll have your tuning done by this weekend, so we're hoping to have it shipped out to you on Monday.
