4.2 L engine...would a chip be good, as in worth the investment-maybe give some power or just better gas mileage?

HI Gtwon,

Actually, the 4.2 V6's respond *very* nicely to our custom tuning, and that can be done in a chip, or in what the vast majority people use, which is our hand held tuner (flash device), the XCalibrator 2.

the 4.2 V6's tend to not be able to go open loop from the factory, and pick up nice gains no matter what, even on 87 octane - what we normally do is to provide a product, either a chip or a tuner, that holds multiple programs, and that way you can get both running for 87 octane and for premium gas when you want all-out power. When you run on the 87 octane tune, you will generally save some money on gas as long as you can keep your foot out of it so to speak - and even on our premium gas tuning, most people do see a nice MPG gain.

SO overall, in terms of looking at the bang for the buck value, the single most cost-effective performance enhancement you can make to these trucks, with any engine (including your 4.2 V6) is a proper performance tune, which can be set up for both pure performance and for towing, etc. that's the nice thing about these newer multi-program products, you can literally have it all.

Please feel free to give us a call at our number listed below to go over any of this in more detail, & best of luck with your truck whatever you decide!
