Question Xcal2 & torque shudder

I have searched for "xcal2 torque shudder" and no results came back.

I was just on the phone with troyerperf asking some questions, i'm about to buy an xcal2 . The only question she couldn't answer was about my torque shudder. Will the xcal2 make this worse, blow it up, etc? I haven't found a reasonable fix except replacing the torque converter. From what i read if i replace it, it could return again. Just wondering if any of you xcal2 guys have the torque shudder problem before ordering the xcal2? See my signature for which truck i have. thanks in advance.

maybe i should rephrase my question. Does anyone out there think the xcal2 will cause my trans/torque conv to blowup or melt? any forseable problems?

mike's tuning will prolong the life of the clutches and bands in the transmission

cool, i'm sure he can't really make that claim for obvious reasons.

Hello Troy,

Actually, we *do* say the exact same thing - our tuning extends the service life of the friction materials inside the automatic transmission - clutches, bands, etc. - due to the significantly reduced slippage, without imparting harshness.

Tuning has absolutely nothing to do with your torque shudder, though with more power, you might feel it a bit more, that might be an outside possibility if you have a bad TQ, and it sounds like you already do.

Just FYI - if a complete flush of the transmission does not fix it, then you need to replace the torque converter, plain and simple - that is not a "tuning issue" in these trucks, that is a mechanical problem with the TQ.

Good luck, & feel free to call us this next week if you'd like to speak with me personally about this, OK?

Happy New Years!

Thanks Mike! As i said in the first post I had already spoke to one of your associates and asked her this question. Unfortunately a small crisis has stolen my funds for a tuner. So now i get to wait some more (i've been waiting since it came out) Hopefully i'll be able to have my $500 in the next couple of weeks.

Although the thought does occur if i should put that to a new TQ...
