Worth every penny.
I just put on the 93 performance tune from my Troyer induced XCal2 and I have to say that on my initial reaction it is worth every penny and every minute of wait time for this tuner. It is like a brand new truck.
I had the the canned SuperChips tuner and decided to go with the XCal2 from Troyer. Now the canned tuner was pretty good I have to admit and you could tell the throttle response but I think i like this tuner is a lot better. Now all I have to do is go to the dyno shop where I had the first tune dyno'd and see what kind of rear wheel power I am putting down and get my datalogging done. I had 250 rwhp and 359 lbs torque with normal Superchips tuner so I cant wait to see how much better it is.
As of right now, I don't have any dyno numbers to prove that this tuner is better but by "feel", it feels a little more responsive. When I had her at WOT I could hear my truck licking her lips when it sucked in the 93 octane.I would say that if you want a tuner and are thinking about getting the Superchips tuner, save up your money and order the XCal2 from Troyer Performance you won't be disappointed. OR you can do like I did and try them both. They are both good, don't get me wrong but I personally like the XCal better.
I also have a question.
I have a blacked out 05 Screw with solid black paint and 20" Roush wheels. But, I also want her to be a "sleeper" when I pull up to a red light and see a Chevy or Dodge. Should I put on the Troyer Perfomance decal at the back of the cab or would it give away too much information? I would appreciate any responses.
I will also post my dyno numbers from Superchips tuner vs. the SCT XCal2 from Troyer when I go to the dyno again.
I just want to say thanks again to Mike and the gang at Troyer. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

Personally, for me, I think that a truck that is as plain as possible looks GREAT!
Take off the pin striping, graphics, and especially the 4x4 or even worse the Fx4 stickers! Why do you have to announce that you have 4x4? ROFL They should just notice it by the height of it and if they don't then they don't care in the first place. For me, I just left the badges. I even took off the old dealership badge, do they pay me to advertise for them? Oh yeah, why buy a truck without 4x4? I don't care if you live where it never snows, etc., but a truck without 4x4 is like a dog with no *****. (neutered)
I must admit though, I do have a Dubya'04 on the tailgate to let the lefties know to watch out.
I will proudly display the TP sticker when the order gets here though. (soon?)
I think it might encourage more "encounters", though I am not necessarily looking for a race.
tbizzle, with a blacked out truck sittin' on 20's, even without a TP sticker, I would assume the truck is modded in the first place! Just do what you want, have fun, be safe, and KNOW that the TP XCal II is a great advantage!

first. the sticker i think gave me another 7-8 rwhp easy.. so im keeping her on there.
also i hope that its like a shiny lure when fishing.. it'll attract a hemi or chebby to try me out..
Also, i have it on there because i want people know about troyer when they get stomped, why not show your support for a company that made what you just did possible

I'm not sure that they would know what the Troyer part means but the Performance part would kind of tip them off I think. On the other hand it is a good looking sticker though.
I think I am going to put it on there and if I dont like the way it looks or if it scares off Hemis or Chebbys I will take it off.

Put it on.
dyno #'s...would love to see them...
Highly interesting in the #'s when you get them...especially in comparsion w/ the super chip 'stock' or 'non-custom' tune...I had been juggling the super chip or the xcal2....went with the xcal2...actually sent in the worksheets the other day...
I will be interested in how the datalogging goes too...
Keep us posted!!! PLEASE....!

It may be after the first of the year when I get to the dyno with the holidays coming and whatnot. One thing that you have to keep in mind is the different settings in which the pulls will take place. The first dyno was in September 90 degree heat vs. probably 30-40 degrees in January. It may make a major difference and it may not. I imagine Mike Troyer or some of the more knowledgeable guys on here could probably tell us more. But I will have a side by side comparison hopefully within the next month.

Actually, doing dyno testing like that at different times is completely worthless - you must do properly controlled testing or the numbers mean absolutely nothing, as there are far too many factors that completely skew the results.
For those who want to see *proper* testing of the Superchips tuning versus our custom tuning, all you need to do is to look up the SEARCH feature to see the results from our Dyno Day where we did just that - we used Marc Carpenter's truck as the 2004 test truck, where we tested it stock, then with the Superchips tuning, and then with our Troyer Performance custom tuning - and then Ski's 2005 truck, where we dyno's it stock, then with the Superchips tuning, and then with our tuning.
All of this was done under *properly* controlled conditions, with thorough and complete datalogging to include ambient air temps, engine oil temps, barometric pressure, engine coolant temps, IAT's, Density Altitude, a nd number other factors that MUST be taken into consideration to prevent complete invalidation of the results. And when we did that, as numerous people here can attest to as they were there and saw us do this correctly, it was no contest - we clearly beat them so badly it wasn't even a contest.
One last point - those who think that the peak HP number is some kind of tell-all about the quality of the tuning, or is even a really important number, have a lot of learn about performance in general, and about improving performance in any vehicle.
I have taken vehicles and tuned them down by 20-30 peak Hp, and *still* run much quicker 1/4 mile times - we have done this numerous times just to wake people up to the fact that peak Hp does NOT determine the overall performance of your vehicle - it's just one number, derived at one time, and usually with no documentation or control factors present.
Just FYI, gang.
PS - For Tbizzle - I am delighted you are much happier with our custom tuning over your previous tuning, excellent! That's generally the way it is - welcome to the club, so to speak!

Visual Representation. Which makes the most peak HP?
1:

2:

Which would you rather HAVE???

Peak numbers only mean anything when everything else is the same. 20HP gained from, say, 3000-5000 rpms is worth MUCH more than nothing, until a bump of, say, 35HP gained from 5000-5500. Mike it telling us what a lot of tuners won't. Mike clearly understands how Peak HP claims might sell to the uniformed, but those 'in the know' realize Peak HP numbers are just one piece of the puzzle.
