Best Way To Order

I was wondering what would be the best way to order an XCAL 2. Would it be to order it over the Troyer Performance web site or should I call and speak to Mike Troyer Directly.

I was also wondering how much of an improvement this would make to my 97 4.2 v6 as far as drivability and horsepower/torque are concerned?

All help is appreciated.

You should call because the XCal2 is a custom, so you’re going to have to discuss exactly what you want. You’ll also get special pricing for being an f150online member too, so call

As far as drivability goes, custom tuning will make very noticeable improvements throughout the entire rpm range in every gear; it will make your truck fun to drive and the butt dyno go wild

Hi a33bigpapa,

Yes, that *IS* a beautiful truck!

The amount of improvement depends on if that particular 4.2 V6 can go open loop from the factory or not, and a lot of them (as in most) can't.

Typically you see about 15 HP on 87 octane, with a 25 lb/ft. of torque gain, and then about 25 HP & 35 lb./ft. running on our premium gas tuning - certainly enough to be felt and help, especially the torque.

The 4.2 V6 gains significant torque all the time, at any throttle position or rpm with our custom tuning.

In terms of how to order, you can order either way, but most people prefer to call us - now be prepared, you generally will not get me personally on the phone, as the owner of the company I have to do a lot of things like the custom tuning, R&D projects, and getting our new shop and it's high-$$ chassis dyno ready, etc., so my time to be available on the phone is almost nil right now, but you don't need me personally. That is what we have a staff for, like any company, you know - so most likely you will be dealing with our staff, who are perfectly competent to help you with this, as this is a very straightforward matter.

Just give us a quick call at our number listed below & our staff will be more than happy to help you with this, and make sure you get your special discount as a registered member of F150 Online, too!

Congrats on such a beautiful truck - nice job!

Can you tell by just the computer code if a truck's computer can go open loop from the factory? I see this mentioned in many posts.

HI Brian,

Assuming that the vehicle's PCM has NOT ever been reflashed (updated), then yes, we can determine that, but I don't' do that here on the boards, you;ll need to call us with that info.

SO feel free to give us a call with your computer code, my staff will take that message, and as soon as I'm in the office (I'm spending some time at the new shop, getting it built out right now!) I will check that out for you and get back to you with that info, OK?

Good question, by the way.
