05 Lariat w/ Superchips---Awesome
Just received my Superchip from Woodhaven today and did the transfer.
Could not be happier with the performance change. Definitely tightens up the shift which is to soft @ stock.
I am running the standard 87 program and even then noticed a considerable improvement. Would expect even more with the performance setting.
Highly recommended. Only stock change I had done prior was a cat back dual borla. Using factory air filter at moment.

Yeah really makes you wonder why Ford doesnt have at least similiar programming right from the factory. After about 6 months I considered my stock 4.6 wimpy and the trans shifting sloppy. It is a new truck now with the Superchip 1745, and IMO all 04+ F-150's, especially 4.6-equipped, should have this tuning from the factory. I even increased my mpg, and I thought that was at the top of the list for manufacturers. Glad to hear of your positive results!
Chrisc,
I just installed a cat back dual Borla on my 05 Lariat Screw and am looking at the 1745 Superchip programmer. It sounds like it's woking fr you. I think I'll give it a go. I haven't touched ayting else yet either, although I am thinking about the intake...maybe a nice high flow setup....let me know if you add anything else.

Chris/Tony, sounds like I got the same setup as you guys, 05 Lariat screw with borla catbacks. Installed an Airaid cai in September and just downloaded the 93 octane performance tune on the xcal2 two weeks ago. Tuned by Troyer. Man what a difference, I'll never run anything less except for those trips to the dealer for service, I will regretfully have to return it to stock. Fortunately there is a Sunoco across from a convient store that sells gas and I can get the Sunoco 93 octane for a good competitive price. I had the pcm reflashed by Ford for a rough 1-2 trans upshift back in early summer and I thought it felt pretty good afterwards, so I only went with 89 and 93 octane tunes. Wow, what a difference the tune makes, best $$ spent on mod's so far and no need for any more - imo. Only thing left now is the bfg all terrain 285x18x65 and I'm done.

Kdds05,
I was wondering if the xCal2 would be worth the extra bucks. I guess it's around $100 more but from what I've been hearing it sounds like it's a lot more versitile and the performance is up (on the Troyer tunes) then the 1745. So the question is, do I go with
1. Just the 1745
2. Just the xCal 2
3. Add an intake to above.
I'm leaning toward the intake and the xCal2.

I've had my 1745 on the premium tune for about 10,000 Km now. I just recently for the first time put it back to stock as I took my truck in for some service and yuck, what a difference. I forgot how crummy the stock tune is. The added power and the shifting is awesome with the tuner. I didn't buy the superchips tuner for the price either, I bought it for ease and dependability. I still have to go to work with my truck.

Tony, do the xcal2 and intake. I went with Airaid vs the AF1 intake because I really don't like chrome/polished stainless anywhere on the truck- ( except for the borla's, which I would have ordered in black if there was such an option... ), just a personal preference here. Airaid gives a drone sound at 1800 rpm's on the factory tune. The tuner totally got rid of it. I would put the intake on first if you have someone building your tune, maybe someone else here knows if a custom tune is slightly modified because of the intake but that's what I did....
Thanks Kdds05,
I think it's a definite on the xCal2. I was going to use Troyer. It sounds like a lot of happy customers on here. As for the intake, I was actually looking at the Powerdyne Supercharger but I just can't fork up the cash and I'm not sure of the AF1 will work with the Powerdyne if I go with just a tuner and intake now so when I order the xCal I'll ask about any cost to change the tune for the SC or other add-on's.

Hi TonyDeG,
In terms of what gets you the best results, we did a Dyno Day and showed everyone how we made so much more power with or Troyer Performance custom tuning over what the 1745 Superchips tuner does - and we sell both products. for the 2005 F-150, and did the same thing to compare the 1714 Superchips tuner to our custom tuning for the 2004 5.4 3V F-150 - it was no contest, we easily beat them.
Hands down, you definitely want to go with the XCalibrator 2 loaded with our Troyer Performance custom tuning to get the best results.
And forget the Powerdyne supercharger for ANY 2004 & newer F-150, as that is a BIG mistake - though they don't' work bad (for a centrifugal, which I do not care for use o any truck) on the 1997-2003 F-150,s they are doing a terrible job on the 2004 & up F_150's in every case we have seen. The power gain is only 20-30 HP at the rear wheels, not even as much as we make in our TUNING - they send a tuning device that locks the PCM in closed loop, and I literally lost count of how many Powerdyne superchargers we have removed and replaced with Roush supercharged, which add about 5 times as much power as a Powerdyne for the 2004 & up 5.4 3V F-150 - they really need a LOT of work on that kit.
In fact, you will have more power and performance just form our Troyer Performance custom tuning and our Air Force One intake kit than you will have from the Powerdyne supercharger, you'll be very glad you went that route, trust me.
If you'd like to go over any of this in more detail, please feel free to give us a call, OK?
And best of luck whatever you decide!
