Happy Microtuner guy here. Just personal preference and purchase timing I guess. More or less wanted tune to fix up the fly-by-wire throttle control issue and have some more power when hauling our trailer.

We're all proud F-150 Owners and that's what matters. And of course, there is nothing short of valuable information, help, and friendly banter on this forum.

If I could have found the XCal2 for $399 shipped, I would have bought it. I guess I didn't realize that Mike Troy gives a $100 break on the price that he lists on his site, then has free shipping too! I guess I screwed up!

I don't know if that's true, but you need to remove it, because it's against forum rules to speak $ figures of contributing vendors.

Hi.

I'll take the heat for the helicopters - my intention was simply to point out that, depending where you look, you may see a $100 delta in price between the two products, from the same vendor. Comparing prices from different vendors basically invalidates this, as would any ebay buys.

Finally - IMHO, and possibly corroborated by all the enthusiasm here, even a $200 delta is well justified - it's the clearly superior tuning expertise you are actually investing in, not just the enhanced device capabilities.

And don't forget stellar post-sale customer service - that is becoming a priceless commoditiy these days. I personally cannot think of any other vendors going to the extraordinary lengths seen here to try and make their customers happy. If you've read this board, you know what I'm referring to.

My sincere apologies for being unclear, or misleading, or if I've mis-stated something - it was not my intention.

But - one observation I will remain firm on: buy cheap, and you will get cheap.

Cheers
Grog

I believe it's against forum rules for VENDORS to discuss pricing. People discuss where they bought something and how much they paid on here every day.

I have a 2005 5.4L. I used to have the 1745 Microtuner and I dyno'd it about a month ago. Best run with K&N Intake, Flowmaster DIDO exhaust, and 93 performance setting netted me: 250rwhp and 359 lbs torque.

I just recently sold the 1745 and have purchased they XCal2 Troyer tuner.

It will be another month before I receive it. I will dyno and post results when I am done.

Well I'm honestly suprised it hasn't been removed yet. I'm pretty sure that nobody can discuss Troyer F150online.com member discounts and prices. It was just last week that I saw the Troyer discount for something else was removed because a member posted it.

Maybe I'm wrong though, I have been many times before. (I've learned that from the girlfriend....just about everyday she trys to teach me that)

Those are good numbers! I believe Marc Carpenter was netting 250rwhp and similiar torque numbers with XCal2 on a performance tune, AF1, and Magnaflow SIDO.
