Talking Its all Mike Troyers Fault

My face hurts from this Perminent stupid grin. Got my Xcal2 on Wednesday, loaded 93 oct performance tune. It was in the middle of the day at work, so I just took it around the block once to "feel the Power", I took a co-worker with me ( he has a 98 piece of chevy Z71), He laughed and thought it was slow. After work we went out to a vacant streach of 4 lane and I beat him by a very embarassing >10 car lenths to 95mhp. He was so far back I thought he gave up, he latter said he was still on the floor. .Bring on the Hemis! Today I got the AF1. Took me 30 minutes to install, directions were good and I had no problems. I took the silver beast out for another shake down and she is even stronger. I cant keep my foot out of it. It looks and sounds great. Thanks Mike

same here...hopin to get the same setup before long. What is the difference if you just use regular 87octane? not sure that i want to pay the $$ for the premium with a tight budget. no im not a cheapo but im young with not a whole lot of $$ with a big gas tank haha hopin these mods will help out the mileage a little

Is that the old or new AF1 air intake tube. Kinda looks like the older one.

Hi 05Silver,

Glad to hear you put the hurt on that Chevy - funny how he wasn't impressed when you took him for a ride, but then you easily beat him by over 10 lengths when you actually lined up - I love it.

This is just one of *many* reasons why I constantly preach to people not to try to judge *any* performance part by the seat of the pants feel, but instead by making actual proper comparisons, etc.

For Devin: if you have the 5.4 3V, you are going to get good performance gains form our 87 octane performance tuning - of course it's not going to be the same as if you were running our premium gas tuning, but it will still be a very significant difference - our average gain on 87 octane in the 5.4 3V F-150 is 25 HP at the rear wheels. However, far more important than just one dumb peak hp number is how well the vehicle actually drives, how much actual improvement there is in overall performance, driveability, acceleration times, etc. Far too many people get hung up on one peak HP number and completely forget obvious things like us being able to take one of these trucks, tune it so that there is no increase in *peak* HP, but still make it run a lot quicker - there are *many* different aspects to tuning peak HP is just one of many things that come into play.

And of course, all of course custom tuning customers get a set of 3 different custom tunes, so they can run 87 octane when they want, or step up to 91 or 93 octane if they want to have the absolute highest power, and then go back down to 897 octane, etc. That's the whole idea of having multiple tunes, is having that kind of flexibility, as a lot of people want to be able to switch back and forth to suit their needs. Feel free to give us a call at our number listed below to go over any details on any of this.

Have fun, 05Silver - don't get any speeding tickets!!

Spiros123: thanks, You will be very happy with this setup, its quite a difference from stock.

Texas Wolf: Thanks....I would do the power upgrades first then the lift and larger tires. I feel my power level is good (for a while) and next I want nerf bars and a brushgaurd, then level the truck. Either lower the back or lift the front.

F150 Duke: According to Anita, this is the new pipe. I made a point of asking for the new design as I have read it is quieter.

Devin4X4: From my experience, if you drive normal the extra gas milage you get from premium will offset the extra cost, should even save you money. I will have hard numbers in a week or so. If I keep the rpm under 2000 and run around 70 on the highway I get just shy of 15 mpg, driving the way I want, WOT many times each day (for passing and merging and such) running around 80 on the highway I get 13 mpg. I have added the magnaflow, AF1 and Troyer tuning in the last week, I will fill up tomorrow and see what I get now.

Mike T; Thanks for the exellent tuning, after I drove it for the last few days the shifts have started to firm up and she runs very strong. This is how Ford should have made this truck perform. I run down this streach of road everyday and I picked a spot between these 2 signs, Its a little short of 1/4 mile. Since my mods I have picked up around 12 mph. Its also up hill, so I am very happy. I do have a problem though....when I put my Troyer Performance decal on I got it crooked. If your feeling generous would you send me a new one? The grey matches my truck very well

Similar setup here too. (XCal2 / AF1 / Magnaflow) My truck is surprisingly fast and yes, it’s all Mike’s fault, thanks Mike

Hi Fellas,

For 05 Silver - sure, we'll be happy to provide another Troyer Performance sticker, just shoot us a quick email (or call) & our staff will be happy to - make sure to tell them your F-150 Online screen name as well as your real name etc., so they can look up your info here & get it to you & in the right color, etc! If you want to request it via email, it's sales@TroyerPerformance.com

For John (jpdadeo) - The graphic you put on the face of your picture of the XCalibrator 2 with the "thanks Mike" on it where the LCD screen is was just too cool - thank you. You must have too much time on your hands! (That is one very clean truck under the hood, too!)

Thanks for that thanks Mike, I’m glad you like it! This pic has been in my gallery ever since I got my XCal2 back in June,
and to date it’s gotten over 600 hits

I have been trying to drive conservitively, but its just too much fun. So my new figures are not anywhere as good as it could get. All in all I have gained about 1.5 mile per gallon, driving HARD. On my last tank I got 14.8. that is what I got driving very conservative when I was Stock. Cruising at 80 is now effortless. I have looked down and found myself doing 90! I suspect it will yeild a solid 2 - 3 mpg when the new wears off and I can keep the pedal off the firewall. I highly recomend the Xcal 2 from troyer. Even if its the only mod you do, its so worth it.

Mods to Truck - $1000.00
Extra cost for Premium - $.20/gal
New set of rear tires every 20,000 miles - $300.00
Grin on my face - PRICELESS

One question how will all this effect your warranty if you have any problems that always keeps holding me back??

If your truck is damaged as a direct result of any modifications that you do it will viod that part of your warrenty. ie: an aftermarket intake wont cause problems with warrenty work on the window regulators. If you get your tunes from a reputable dealer such as Mike Troyer you can be assured that it will be a safe tune and you will not have any issues. On another note, it would be wise to return to the stock tune anytime you take your truck in for service, because if Ford was to flash your computer (for an update) it would render your Xcal2 inoprative as it would not recognise you vehicle. Ther is always a chance that your dealer would give you grief about mods, some are cool others are not. If one gives you trouble, take your business to another one. Moding any new vehicle comes with a certain amount of risk, but not abusing your truck is the best way to aviod it. Just my $.02
