? for Mike T.

What tuners do you have for a 6.0L 2005 F-350 diesel CC 4x4 auto? (besides the superchips tuner) Also can any of these have cutom tune's?

Hi gouldje,

Yes, we *can* do the custom tuning for the 7.3 & 6.0 PSD's!

We're gaining significantly more power & torque than the off-the-shelf Superchips tuners are as well, typically a 220-260 lb/ft of torque gain at the rear wheels in the automatic 6.0's - it's common to end up with the *automatics* laying down an easy 720-750 lb/ft. of torque (if not more) on Mustang load-bearing dynos (sometimes a bit more, depends on how each factory turbo performs) -

Just as an aside, when dynoing any diesel, it's important to have the load-bearing capability on the dyno being used, as the typical Dynojet setup cannot provide the load needed for the turbo to really spool up like it does when actually driving the vehicle, so Dynojet numbers typically read lower - it's much different than dynoing a gas engine.

As far as the actual hardware (tuner) itself, this would be done in the XCalibrator 2, just like almost everyone else here is using for their F-150's - so you can have the full enhanced-parameter diagnostics, the high-speed datalogging, downloadable firmware updates, USB connectivity, add-on touch screen coming out later this year that can be added on for those who want that kind of functionality, and all the other features of the XCalibrator 2.

Just give us a call at our number listed below & we can go over all of that with you in appropriate detail.

Thanks for your post, & good luck with your diesel!

Thank for the info Mike. The reason I question about different tuners for the diesel is that I am not sure about the more power being the best chip. I don't want to go too extreme as far as hp. & tq. I plan on having this truck for some time and I would like good reliability . I have seen some good results out of the superchips, but they are not as wild as some of the others. As far as the Xcal2 how many different tunes can be specified (on a stock chip)? Also does the Xcal2 offer the same features of the superchips as far as tire size etc? The most I tow is a snowmobile trailer with the max weight of about 4,000 lbs. Also would like to have a chip that gets a little better fuel economy.

Thanks

ps: sorry for the rambling

You're very welcome!

Like with all of our tuners, you will receive a set of 3 different custom tunes, set up however you like. And you're absolutely right, having the absolute highest HP & torque is not always what it's about - that is only for an "extreme" performance type of tune, where there is no towing, and all-out performance is the only concern - another reason why having multiple tunes available is really necessary to give you maximum flexibility.

And no, the speedo's calibration *cannot* be altered in the diesels via any tuner - that is only for the gasoline engine vehicle, not the diesels - some of the advertising can make you think otherwise. To calibrate the speedo in the diesels, you need to use a Speedcal inline device, which we also carry in stock - in the diesels, that is not done in the PCM's controls in any of the tuners.

Talk to you soon,
