Key programing

I have an '03 Supercrew. I would like to get another ignition key made but they want an hours worth of labor for it. I can understand the 21.50 fee for the key, just not the supposed 1 hour labor time to program the thing. I had recently heard its not a big deal to program yourself. Does anyone know how to program a key? Also looking to program a remote?

Thanks, Clint

how many original keys do you have? if you have 2 keys you can program a 3rd or more keys..your owners manual will explain how to do that...if you only have 1 key you will have to have a dealer program it for you...if the dealer charges you a hour of larbor they are rippin you off...it takes at most 30 mins to program the key..at my dealer we charge 38.00 pluss the key to do it
