Xcal2 and speedo recalibration
Xcal2 and speedo recalibration
Just a request to Mike that once you get the glitch worked out so that the Xcal2 will recalibrate your speedo for different sized tires, could you post that here so I'm not calling every day bugging the hell out of Crystal before I order one.

I just don't want to call every day to find out if its worked out yet...lol.
Hi.
If your tuner supplied you with your tunes in *.xtr format, you can always use ExtremeTune to adjust it, and then load that into the xcal2.
This is only until the (previously discussed, in detail - do a Search) issue with Advantage 3.0 are addressed and end-user adjustability is enabled in the Xcal2. You won't need to use ExtremeTune after that is done.
There is no reason to delay your purchase. Given the lead time and the need to fill out yer paperwork & get in the queue, do it now
Cheers

Well this is all news to me. Mine came in at the end of Aug and the user functions work. Per Crystal two days ago who looked up my order and said mine has that capability and I have used this tire size function.
I think that XC2's shipped by Troyer between 8/15 and about 9/14 will have the
ADV 3.0 / end user functions.... I think.
That would include mine which I have loaded, but am waiting to play until I hear more.
My tunes work very well, and end user functions will become a new hobby at some point.

Exactly - we started enabling those features August 15th, and stopped only for a few days just a few days ago, simply because of an issue we found during this past Dyno Day right after SCT had done 4 different updates to the software we use on or end - the issue is simply that on vehicles that have *significant* mods that alter the A/F's radially, the amount of work we have to do to dial them back in was significantly increased - so rather than do that and have additional rounds of adjustments & datalogging & inconvenience to the customers we do via mail order, we simply dropped back to our previous revision for a few days.
Keep in mind that this is something that is only happening for a few days, as SCT is working on this right now, as we speak - additionally, they are providing us with a utility that will allow us to email out to those who purchased their XCal 2's before we were able to enable that on-board adjustability to enable that for them - so that they don't' have to send their units back in for us to enable that, etc.
So it's really a non-issue. This does NOT affect our ability to recalibrate the speedometer for tire & gear changes at all - it simply means that thee will be a few people who we will be sending gout a utility via email so they can enable that on-board adjustability, that's all.
For anyone ordering now, it's not even going to affect them, due to the lead time from order placement until tuning completion, that little glitch will already have been taken care of. In fact, the utility we will be emailing to allow people to enable that on-board adjustability capability that is already in the XCal 2's firmware was designed for those who purchased their XCal 2's early on, before the software on OUR end could enable those additional features.
This is precisely why the XCal 2 is modular in it's design, and can so easily be updated via a simple Internet download or utility that we email out.
So it's really a non-issue.

Hi raddad,
No problem at all, don't give it a thought - and remember, at one time, every one of us, including us here at Troyer Performance, were new to the F-150 scene too!
For John (jpdadeo) - first - Advantage 3.0 *is* what we call Mako - "Mako" (as in the Mako shark) was Advantage 3.0's internal designation during development, and I tend to still refer to it as Mako instead of "Advantage 3.0," but they are one and the same.
As far as timeframe, we should be seeing it soon - they are still doing further testing, and it's one of those things where you just don't know when you're done until you're done - like any R&D project. We've been told anywhere from 1-4 weeks. Ford has so many different styles of PCM's with numerous different file sizes & the differing formats of the tuning files in terms of all the many different database & executable revisions that continue to come hot & heavy, etc., that it really takes a lot of work to make the one same utility software work on all of them - especially these F-150's with their 1472 Oak PCM's & so many different strategies. We had hoped to see it by now, but we'd much rather see it delayed & right, rather than rushed & problematic - you know how that goes.
As soon as it's ready, we'll make sure to let everyone know ASAP!
