What are the most popular tunes?

I have a 4.2L V6 and I just ordered the xcal2 but i can't make up my mind about the 3rd tune. I want a 93 Perf. 91 Tow ..... and ??????? (what do you guys suggest as my third tune). I don't really pull anything bigger than my sea-doo with the truck. I was hoping for some Fuel economy tune.....but i was told that they can't guarante better gas milage ..... so what should i get as the last tune?
Thanks,
Bart

These are the tunes I got; I rarely tow anything ultra-heavy either, jet skies, etc.

87-octane __stock tune (can always go back to the stock tune to tow with 87-octane if need be)

87-octane __ performance (no tow)
93-octane __ tow-preferred
93-octane __ performance (no tow)

If I don’t lead-foot to much, all these tunes get better mpg than stock

I have the same as Jpdadeo. I also rarely tow. If I did tow much, I probably would have changed the 87 performance to an 87 tow.

Hey nut, why not 87/89/93? You have 91 in your neck of the city? I haven't seen 91 in awhile, and I'm in the WT downriver area. Then again, I usually only hit Mobil stations.

I don’t have the 87 tow but the 87 performance is better on gas than the stock tune; its got a lot more power with the same mpg lead-footing or better mpg regular driving

What happens differently between the tow and perf tunes?

Are there any general weight limits if one NEEDS to tow while running a perf tune?

What can be some of the reprecutions of towing while running a perf tune?

Thanks.

Joey

We've got 89 here too. I figured I would probably only use the 87 or 93 tunes so the 91 was a 'filler' in case I go somewhere that only offers 91 instead of 93.

After thinking about it, I called TP and changed the 91 performance to 89 performance.

Hi bart-r6,

I would suggest adding an 87 octane tune - either performance or towing-capable - that way you will also have a tune that will yield better performance and driveability and still allow the use of 87 octane fuel - and a *performance* tune will always yield better MPG than a towing tune will, by the way.

For everyone else in this thread, and as a direct response to whoever it was who asked how much you can "tow" with our performance tunes -

You cannot tow ANY amount of weight with our *performance* tunes - period. ZERO.

If you want to be able to safely tow with our Troyer Performance custom tuning, then when you place your order you simply need to specify that you want towing capability and we're happy to do that - and on our towing tunes, you have the full factory towing capacity.

But we will NOT provide ANY tow rating capacity in our *performance* tunes, nor should they be used for towing, because they are not designed for towing.

This is something we have gone over many times before (and thus is available via SEARCH), as well as the specific differences between our towing & performance tunes and why you cannot tow with our Troyer Performance custom *performance* tunes - Remember, we don't "dummy down" our tunes - when we make a performance tune, it's for *performance* and everyday driving - it is NOT for doing ANY towing. With our *performance* tunes, you can still load the vehicle all the way up to it's maximum ON BOARD weight rating from the automaker - you simply cannot tow.

So if you want our Troyer Performance custom tuning and you want to be able to tow, you have to have us do at least one of those tunes *specifically* as a towing tune - and on our *towing* tunes, you can use them for anything from heavy towing to daily driving to whatever you want - just like the stock factory program, only much better.

For further info, feel free to use the SEARCH feature as I've gone over all of that specific many times before, everyone - or feel free to give us a call at our number listed below.

Thanks, I hope that info helps a bit & enjoy your Labor Day weekend!
