Yyeeeeehhaaawwww!!!!!

I'm a couple days late posting about recieving my XCAL2, but it's given me a couple days of making my normal drive to work to feel out the changes. I think the title of the thread pretty much sums it up lol. My truck now actually has some passing power, and I was caught off guard by just how much more it had the first time I had to pass someone. The throttle response is WAAAYY better than stock, and just a quick stab to the throttle will get me a pretty good amount of acceleration without the trans having to downshift. All in all, this is the best mod I have done so far.....should have gotten the XCAL first since I've seen way more performance increase with it than my Airaid intake and catback exhaust combined . If ya 'aint got it yet.....get it!!!!

I’m happy to say I’ve been enjoying the XCals loaded with Mikes custom tuning since the beginning of December 2004. The main thing that stands out the most is, they don’t get old. They feel as fresh today as they did eight months ago; totally transformed my driving experience; the best mod I got. Enjoy that XCal2 shookman34!

Well....I hit a snag yesterday....My parents asked me to take my truck up to Menards in Bay City to pick up a bunch of landscaping blocks.....40 of 'em at 40 pounds a piece=1600 pounds. I'm currently running the 87 octane tune...no towing...so I'm forced to switch back to the factory tune to go get these dang blocks. All I can say is I could immediately tell the difference between the Troyer tune and the stock tune as soon as pulled out of my driveway. Just the difference in throttle response and the shifting characteristics were quite obvious. On a positive note....my truck is rated to "haul" 1650 lbs and I was hauling 1600....I turned the O/D off and had no trouble at all with that much weight in the back. In fact, it felt like I could haul three times that much with no problem, but I figure the limitations are there do to braking with the extra weight in the truck. As soon as I'm done here, I'll be reprogramming my 87 octane tune back in.....gonna run with this for awhile and then try the 93 to see how much difference it makes

You bought an Xcal2 that can hold 3 tunes and didn't put a towing tune in it?

You use the cable that comes with it to tie whatever you are towing to your truck.

Yes, I do have a towing tune in my XCAL2...but it is for 93 octane and I've only been running 87 octane, so I couldn't just switch to it. My only option was to go back to the factory tune since I had over a half tank of gas left. I'm gonna run the 87 for a bit and feel it out, then try the 93 tune...and I'm sure I won't wanna switch back to the 87 anymore, so switching tunes for towing wouldn't be a problem then

Tunes I have are:
87 Octane Performance (NO TOWING)
93 Octane Towing-capatible
93 Octane Performance (NO TOWING)

Hi shookman,

Thanks for your post, glad to hear you're enjoying our custom tuning - it's amazing how much power & performance we're getting even just on 87 octane in these 5.4 3V F-150's!

It's a real reminder when you have to go back to the stock tune like that, and loose all that throttle response & performance to haul that load on 8 octane - I know just exactly how you feel, as we many times have to do that exact type of testing - I can't stand running without our tuning.

Have fun!
