xcal2 gas mileage?

I have been thinking of getting a xcal2 for my truck and had a few questions. first I know performance and gas mileage don't always go in the same sentence. but with my truck getting crappy gas mileage now (11.5 city, 15.5 highway). I do not want to do any thing to make it worse. so I wanted to see if those of you with the differant programs available for the xcal2 were getting better gas mileage or worse. also I do believe mike makes a 93 octane gas mileage tune. dose it have decent perfomance. better than the 87 performance, or 87 stock program. just trying to figure out if I want to get this thing and if it is worth it and if I do get it what tunes I will get with it.

While I've only had the 87 tune in for 2 days, my mileage has gone up 1 MPG. So far, so good...

KC-10 FE out...

The XCal2 won’t make your gas mileage any worse it usually improves mpg. The lead foot puts the kibosh on it though

That's an excellent question - and the answer is, all else being equal, the MPG usually goes up a little bit.

However, some people tend to drive the vehicle harder checking out the new performance levels once they get any new "go-fast" goodie, and during that time you can actually lose a bit of MPG.

Now once that settles down and driving gets back to normal, the MPG will not drop unless you use a lower energy fuel - and in most cases, it actually tends to go up a little bit.

Basically, any time you increase power, as long as you don't drive it harder you can see a bit of an improvement in fuel economy - so it's up to your right foot and the quality of fuel pumped into the tank, basically.
