Towing question

We are going to be towing our tent trailer to the coast tomorrow. The wife forgot and filled the truck up with 87 octane. I was going to use the 92 tow/performance , but now I"ll have to stay with my 87 performance tune. Will there be any problems doing so. The trailer doesn't weigh that much.

I pulled my 14' trailer loaded with my 3600# Cobra with my 87 octane tune and had absolutely NO problems.
Where you going, Seaside, Cannon Beach, Nehalem????
Used to live in Clackamas and LOVE the Oregon coast......

Going out to Long Beach, WA. Staying at a friend's property on the northend of the island a block off the beach. Will be playing on the beach with the truck. I'll eat some fresh oysters for you and chase them with one of Oregon's finest Micro brews while sitting next to the bonfire.............

Troyer's documantation states NO Towing with the performance tunes. You might be better off puting the stock tune back until you can use the correct fuel for your tow tune.

Better safe than sorry.

I would prefer some fresh crab, but the oysters will be fine if you would just lay them along the edge of the coals of the fire until they start to open from the heat, then a little hot sauce if you don't mind.. and a few cold Henry Weinhards would be fine... YOU LUCKY DEVIL !!!!!

The stock tune will be worthless with the 35" tires and 4:88 gears I got in it. The computer was all mixed up.

TP’s documentation for the 87-octane performance tune definitely says NO TOWING! (first page & it's in bold too)

Cool

Yes it does but it also says it is for towing later down in the column. Guess I just have to leave the truck up on blocks tonight and let it run so I can put 92 in it tommorrow...... Better yet it is suppose to be in the 90's so I"ll drop the top and hook the trailer up to the Jeep

Why don't you return it to factory while you tow, then you can change back to the 87 tune once the trailer is off. And tell your wife not to touch your truck again.

The problem is that it is HER truck. I make the payments and she gets to drive it....Funny how that works isn't it.

People tow tent trailers with motorcycles in the Midwest. Your truck is going to be embarrassed, but I personally can't see how a trailer that light would be a problem with any tune, but I'm not an expert.

I do tow a 30' 8,500 lb 5th wheel with my F150 on the stock tune. I'm still waiting for my Xcal2.

Regards wife and truck, my wife's car just had transmission problems and she got to drive my truck for a few days. She almost wouldn't give it back. I've decided I'm not going to let her ever drive it with a performance tune. She's a Nascar fan and I'm sure that would be the end of my truck for the duration.

Enjoy.
