Tuner w/o mods?

I don't think I've seen this one yet...

Is it worth it to get a tuner before mods, or aren't really planning on getting a new intake or exhaust??

I believe it could still be quite beneficial to get one even without mods. I'm by far not the expert on this, but you should still be able to get a pretty fair amount of power, mileage and better shifting from just the tuner.

The XCal2, with Troyer’s tunes, is the number one biggest “bang for the buck” mod you can do. If that ends up being the only mod you ever do it’s still worth it because it’s always going to be #1 in the bang for the buck order

I have the X-cal with 87 octane performance, 91 octane performance, and 91 octane towing Troyer tunes and no other mods. My truck runs so much better with the tunes!! I highly recommend getting the tuner and tunes from Troyer. You won't be sorry you did.

Is Mike your brother, brother-in-law, cousin, neighbor, best friend? Do you get some kind of commission?

None of the above... JP is just one of the most enthusiastic, helpful guys on this board ;-))

When you find a performance supplier of this caliber (TP) - and I'm talking both product-wise and customer-focus, it's worth telling that to others.

This kind of commitment is altogether too rare these days.

And - perhaps not a commission, but a TP Performance sticker ;-))

Cheers!
Vic

HI Krohbar,

To get you an actual answer to your question.....

Yes, you can certainly be benefit from our tuning without doing *any* other modifications to your vehicle,.

Remember, our Troyer Performance custom tuning is literally the single best bang-for-the-buck performance enhancement you can make to your vehicle, as nothing else for the same or less cost will provide as much power & performance gain - whether you have any other modifications or not.

Now it is also true that other mods will help increase power & performance even further, which is why you see many people here doing several mods - but there are plenty of people running just our Troyer Performance custom tuning who are loving their results, so yo can certainly do just that, if you like, and enjoy it!

I hope that info helps, & please feel free to give us a call to go over any of this or anything else performance related in proper detail.

Good luck with your truck,

I'm just trying to get a plan of action together for my truck. I've got a list (like most) as long as my right arm. Just trying to decide if I intake, exchaust, and tuner, or just tune. What would be a typical performance gain with the 3v 5.4 tuned w/o the other stuff? Would it still get ~30hp, or would I need the intake / exhaust to get the ~30hp? K&N is saying about 15hp, exhaust should get 10-15. Just cross-eyed looking at the list of things I WANT / NEED to do to my truck...

If you add the intake or exhaust after the fact, would you want to change the tune to represent these changes to get the most from the truck.

What if I don't plan on doing either one, but decide to months or years later?

That’s a frequently asked question and the short answer is no, the Troyer custom tunes don’t have to be tweaked for the addition of intake and/or exhaust. There are more detailed answers posted but with the same conclusion.

Without searching, do you know if Troyer modifies the tunes to account for the presence or lack of such items as an intake/exhaust. Maybe I just need to give Troyer a call to talk about my questions?

Thanks JP for your answer.

Whom would you recommend for custom tuning? Who’s your guy?
Never said I didn't agree. Just commenting on how you're always promoting MT whenever and where ever you get the chance, that's all.
